Chris
"First off, none of you are allowed here!" Kiran reprimanded. But Chris knew that very well, and he decided to disregard that fact. "This room is highly confidential and i could get in trouble for this."
"Oh chill, nobody knows yet and you wont snitch. we're actually here for an important matter." Chris shines brightly at him. " Tessa here is a new student and needs her ID and stuff." He motions to the taller girl in the room. He faintly notices her stiffen and explains it to nerves at being in uptight Kiran's presence. "The Assistant is absent today."
He noticed the secretary's face harden. His eyes were focused on Tessa behind him. He felt some sort of weird shift in the room. Like both of them were wary of each other more than it being due to a first time meeting.
"...Something's up?" He asks nervously switching his gaze between the two. "You know each other?"
"Nope." Tessa supplied quickly. She shuffled nervously on her feet. This looked like a new side of her to Chris. His opinion of her was that she is a rough type of person. Definitely not awkward, she certainly didn't act like this the first time he met her.
Kiran pushed his glasses up and cleared his throat. "I don't think you'll find her stuff here."
"Where do we go then?" She asked lowly.
"I said the Assistant's absent, maybe they kept it here itself." Chris walked towards a cupboard and opened it. The other boy startled forward.
"You can't just open anything you see here!" He slammed the door shut, missing the shorter one's nose by a centimeter. He huffed and crossed his arms.
"Not like you're helping our case."
Kiran pinched his nose bridge and sighed shortly. "Stand back, I'll check here."
The other two complied and stood back. "And don't touch a thing or I'll report both of you!" Kiran warned before crouching to shuffle through a lower shelf.
Chris wasn't about to heed his warning. What could he do anyway? It's not like there were any security cams in the room. He could probably do what he wanted. On that note, he roamed around the room to poke around at the papers kept on the desks. Tessa lingered closer to the secretary's back, looking like she wanted to talk to him. There wasn't any point trying to figure out what they had going on.
A large stack of papers caught his eye, not because it looked out of place in the room- rather the opposite. A word printed on the top sheet caught his eye. 'Physics Monthly Surprise Test' and the name written underneath "Ms. Soama" as the teachers name. It made his blood turn to ice under his skin. This was his teacher. And he had physics as the last class. What if it was a test his class was supposed to take later?
"So...did you find anything yet- you need help?" Tessa mumbled. He turned back to watch the two of them interact.
"No, I can't let you see some of the stuff here." He replied and straightened himself a little to shuffle through the next shelf.
Chris thanked his stars that he had the girl to distract Kiran for him. He creeped up to her and grabbed her arm. The fact that she didn't flinch or anything worried him a bit.
"Listen, I need you to distract him for me , kay?" He got on his toes to whisper in her ear. It annoyed him slightly that she was taller than him but that couldn't be helped. She nodded without a question. He appreciated how she rolled with whatever he wanted to do.
"So... Kiran?" She started. He didn't bother catching their conversation. He slinked back near the test papers. He peeked at the topmost page of the stack. He read only the first line to confirm his suspicions. He turned his head to face the other two. They looked distracted enough, trying to maintain polite conversation. And Kiran probably wouldn't hear him over the files he was going through in his own hands. Now came the hard part.
"Oh I forgot." She said.
"Is that your excuse as to why you walk in here a month late?" Kiran asks.
"Yup."
He picked up a sheet and folded it into his pocket as quick as he could. He shuffled back to stand with Tessa.
"We must be blessed with your presence." He snorted in surprise, he didn't know the school's star-boy could be sarcastic. He is so helpful and polite all the time.
"Oh, I found it." Kiran turns around to show a folder filled with a few sheets. "Can I get your full name?" He opened it and went through the pages.
"Tessa Hart."
"Here," He hands her a sheet. "You should submit your leave letter to the Principal soon."
"Would it be accepted?" Chris broke in.
Kiran jumps at his voice. "Did you leave the room in the middle?" He asked him.
"No, I was here. I never left." Chris looks at him innocently which was returned with a mighty confused look.
"No, you- never mind." He shakes his head. He gets up and hands her an ID card. "How'd you get in here without an ID?" He questions.
"I climbed up the wall near the court." She shrugs and puts it on. He looked like he wanted to question her more but was cut off by Chris.
"Thanks, buddy! But I think we have a few minutes left to get to class, we better leave." He grabs Tessa and drags her towards the door.
"Oh shit, I had to do something!" Kiran turns around to the test stack. Chris stiffens but He picks it up and follows them "Get to class now, don't be late, and could you close the door behind you?" He pushes past them and leaves quickly.
"What did you do back there?" Tessa questions him once the other boy left. The corridor was mostly empty as they walked out. Everybody else must have been in their classes by then, they should hurry up before they get yelled at by their next teacher.
"I'll tell you later, let's first get to the next room." He supplies.
