Satoru Iwata, the former president of Nintendo and now deceased, saved Super Smash Bros Melee (SSBM)
One source states, "The late Satoru Iwata was a beloved and admired figure within the video game industry, and he lived up to his reputation during the final stretch of development on Super Smash Bros. Melee. As the release date neared and the game still wasn't ready, it looked as though it would have to be pushed back. Satoru Iwata himself made sure this didn't happen.
Despite having his own responsibilities within Nintendo and having virtually no involvement in the game's development, he went out of his way to debug the game himself for three weeks, just so it would come out in time.
Clearly he was a dedicated worker, and his presence continues to be missed"(Jacobs).
