I peeled my eye open, instantly cringing when the white light blinded me. I slowly sat up, looking at my surroundings. I'm sitting under a tree, but its leaves were falling. I could see that the tree was dying.

"You're up already?" I heard a girl say from my behind me. I glanced at Kazumi, who's frowning as she's examining her black kunai. "Kisame freaking scratched it."

"How's Kaito?" I questioned, ignoring what she had just said. The boy was sleeping next to his sister, a troubled look on his face.

"He's not injured, so he's just exhausted," Kazumi answered. "We landed in a bad spot. This is where most rogue ninjas hang out."

"You can't blame him," I grunted as I stood up. I slowly made my way towards her and leaned on the tree trunk. "He was pretty much distracted. He hasn't even mastered the jutsu yet."

"Maybe I should've learned the jutsu too," Kazumi muttered. "I could've helped him."

"Nothing you can do now," I shrugged. "Update me now. How many days have passed?"

"It's only been a day. The Akatsuki members are on our trail. Luckily, I managed to throw them off for a couple of hours. Speaking of which, we should get moving. I had an extremely hard time lugging you and Kai--"

"There they are!"

"They're already here?!" Kazumi shouted as she braced herself, her kunais held firmly in her hands. I unsheathed my dagger and glared at the approaching figures.

"It's not them; not the Akatsuki," I noted. Kazumi briefly glanced at me before averting her eyes towards the figures.

"Rogues," she whispered. "And a whole lot of them too. Crap."

"I'm still tired," I told her. "My chakra is just beginning to come back, Kaito's still unconscious, and you were awake the entire time while making sure we don't get harmed."

"But, we weren't in the Akatsuki for no reason," Kazumi smirked. I smirked along with her as the rogues surrounded us.

"And even with all those things I listed, I know we can beat them easily," I slightly raised my voice, making sure the rogues could hear me well. They sneered and pulled out their weapons.

"You guys are from the Akatsuki," one of the rogues noted.

"They're worth a lot of money. Let's go on a bounty hunt, shall we?" another smirked.

"You're digging your own grave," I scoffed while making a shadow clone. "Guard Kaito," I told her. She nodded and pulled out her dagger.

"Let's go!" Kazumi shouted. We both launched towards the group of rogues. I twisted and whirled around, feeling my dagger tear through the flesh of a couple rogues. I halted and ducked under one's leg, quickly whirling around to slash at his back. He fell to the ground, obviously dead.

"Aaahhhh!" a female shouted as she brought down a kunai. I brought my fist up and let the kunai clash with the metal of my plated glove. I smirked sadistically, turning on my Enningan to frighten her even further. She slowly began trembling as I activated my Sharingan and captured her in a genjutsu. She fell to the ground.
