Five

A cloaked figure raced throughout the trees, her dagger held in her hand reflecting the moonlight. Her blonde hair flew behind her, and her movements were light.

Four

The leaves fluttered. Her target stood up from what he was doing. He looked around warily, reaching into his pocket to pull out his slightly rusty pocket knife. He knew he shouldn't have taken a shortcut.

Three

The cloaked figure moved closer and positioned herself, ready to pounce at any moment. She smirked sadistically, seeing her target getting closer and closer to his end.

Two

The target gasped and whirled around. He was sure he heard footsteps just behind him. When he saw nothing out of the ordinary, he slowly turned his head around.

One

The cloaked figure smirked and brought up her dagger, glaring dangerously right in front of her target's horrified face.

"Boo."

SLASH!!!

The target dropped onto the ground, a lifeless look in his eyes. The cloaked figure lifted the target onto her shoulders and raced back to the rendezvous point, not minding the familiar dark red substance oozing from the target and onto her cloak. After all, it was already stained with the substance many times; too many for the cloaked figure to count.

She stopped in front of a fifteen year old boy, whom is not even bothering to hide his appearance. It was already impossible for him to do so with his bright red hair and glowing green eyes.

The boy looked at the target's dead body which was dumped at his feet. He paid no mind to the blood that got onto his shoes and bent down to inspect the body.

"A clean cut," he stated as he eyed the target's throat. "Job well done."

"Don't say that just yet," the figure sheathed her bloody dagger. "We still have much more targets."

"True," the boy gripped the man's shirt and tossed him into the hollowed-out tree trunk behind them, where the other bodies remained. "Let's get going then..."

"....Akane..."

Now, don't go saying that this is a short chapter. It's a prologue, okay? It's supposed to be short. The chapters are going to be their usual length, 3,000 words or more.
