"The Wrong Feelings" - Chapter 1

It was a damp foggy day in forks, not like it wasn't all the time. Jacob was taking a drive on his motorcycle. He had just changed for the first time. The wolf side. It wasn't something he was used to. It made him feel prideful, strong, almost overwhelmingly upset for no real reason at all, like puberty all over again. It was animalistic, and strong. He didn't know where he was driving, but he was planning on La Push. The beach where he and the pack occasionally went cliff diving. Someplace on a cliff or rock giving him a moment of peace.

When he arrived at La Push Beach he walked straight to the shore. He had taken off his jacket and set it on a rock since it was a bit warmer now, plus his natural body heat would keep him warm. He sat staring at the horizon line. He had known about the tribe's history with wolves and heard of the stories, but shifting was different. It had bothered him, but it also didn't. It didn't hurt like he had thought it would when he was small. Just different. Jacob contemplated going to Bella's house to talk to her, but it wouldn't be much help. She still had mixed feelings about him, and he had mixed feelings about her. After all, he also didn't want that Cullen, Edward's scent around him. Since they had been dating Jacob knew he wasn't right for her. He would glare at Jacob when he'd visit and the Cullen's would scuffle with the pack along the border when they'd go hunting. Bella doesn't deserve him. He knew that.

It was almost 6:43 when he left the shore, he was sitting there for a few minutes and was now walking towards the woods. Maybe a walk some would help him. Maybe ease his anxiety some. When he began his trek into the woods he took a deep breath. The smell of the woods, the pine, the mildew, everything. Taking in all the sounds, the river, the owls, the faint rustle of leaves. It all felt so relaxing to him. His boots would crunch against the leaves along the forest floor, his body suddenly feeling cold once more. Shit. He thought to himself, realizing he forgot his jacket by the shore he turned around groaning to himself "of fucking course..." as he stepped a few paces towards the beach again he heard a rustle in the trees. A quick noise and a dense feeling clouded the air. A noise and feeling he knew too well. Vampires. Vampires had a distinct scent like an intense smell of smoke and gasoline. Not necessarily bad but very pungent. He stifled a low growl as he crouched low looking around his surroundings. Suddenly he heard a voice, almost like a whisper at first. "Jacob." A very monotone voice, not deep, but not squeaky, one he knew very well.

Edward Cullen.

He turned around looking for the vampire, his shoulders relaxing now that he knew the vampire wasn't an immediate threat. "What do you want, Edward?." The figure of the 17 year old stepped forward. His skin pale and his eyes a rusty shade of yellow. He wasn't sparkling since the sun was setting. He was using his vampire agility, so he must be hunting, he noted quietly. But why would he be hunting this far? Jacob thought to himself. "Relax yourself wolf boy. I'm not here for you." Cullen stepped closer, Jacob moved to a defensive position, then realized his eyes weren't fixed on him but something behind him, Jacobs ears perked up as he glanced behind him. A rabbit was searching the leaves and branches for berries. The fog hid Edward from the rabbit's sight. As Jacob prepared to comment something the Vampire lunged quickly towards the rabbit grabbing it swiftly before placing his fangs deep into its neck. The creature squealed before subsiding quietly to death, its foot still twitching. Jacob stood frozen. After all, he had never stayed long enough to watch the Cullen's when hunting, let alone watch them kill it. He shouldn't have been too fazed by it, some of the pack members would hunt in their wolf form but still, it never quite made sense to him.

When Edward had finished sucking the blood from the rabbit. He kneeled to the floor before digging a hole. Jacob cocked his head slightly confused by the Vampire. Edward placed the rabbit in the hole before gently covering the limp creature. Jacob smiled lightly, happy to know Edward had some decency in him. Edward turned to look at him again. Shit. Jacob had forgotten that Edward could read people's thoughts. Edward laughed. "I do have some decency you know. Just cause I'm a vampire doesn't mean we hate all creatures." I rolled my eyes at him. Yeah right. He didn't comment. You hate me. Edward sighed and nodded slightly smiling "I have to. It's part of our history, not history I'm proud of, but it's life. Whether I'm with Bella or not, we're just...destined to hate eachother." He spoke quietly, his words lingering on Bella. Jacob growled quietly, Edward annoyed him, but he had to admit he made sense most of the time. He then continued to walk towards the beach. It was darker now and he couldn't see much but he was determined to get away from Edward. Edward walked in front of him placing a hand over his chest, stopping him from moving. He was about to protest and push him away until the vampire handed Jacob his jacket. Jacob looked up. Why'd he bring me my jacket? He thought to himself. Edward chuckled and turned to head back to his house. "I can still read your thoughts, you know?" He started "but don't think it's some grand gesture or something. You left it. And the smell was bothering our hunt. I could barely even smell the rabbit." he continued. Jacob was annoyed but shrugged it off. After all he couldn't fight him here, not now, he had too much on his mind. And if the Cullen's were hunting the others would be close by. And even if Jacob did hate him, he saved him from walking in the dark. "Thanks Cullen. And don't worry, I won't think of it as a gesture, and I don't even wanna hear it about sme-" Jacob was cut off by a thundering rustle. He looked up from putting on his jacket. Edward had left. He then felt a drop of rain fall on his shoulder. After a few seconds it started pouring harder. He groaned before leaping forward and shifting to his wolf form. Heading back to the tribe, mud soaking his paws and rain dampening his fur as he ran. He supposed he got some peace. But then again, something was bothering him, something different than his original issue.

A vampire issue.
