Chapter 12

The pair hung out quite a few times after that. Minho stayed home for another week and was mostly alone since his mother couldn't afford to stay home every day for him, although it hurt to leave him behind. He didn't mind if it meant that Jisung would come over to keep him company.

He didn't tell his mom about the boy he met and the fact that they got so close in such a short time. There was a part of him that is too scared to tell anyone about their friendship. He would only embarrass himself if it ended up not working out. He would rather suffer alone than let his mom know he lost someone important to him.

That didn't change the fact that she noticed the change in his mood. It wasn't unlikely for him to have a few good days after a bad breakdown, but it was never like this. And she couldn't get enough of seeing her boy so happy. She didn't even want to question the reason behind it, she just hoped he was happy and well.

"What are you doing?! He asked for chocolate flavoured whipped cream!" Jisung yelled at the laptop screen while Minho finished his orders on Papa's Pancakeria.

They found out that the younger boy wasn't the best at playing games after he lost multiple times to Jisung in almost every video game they played. So they ended up playing something easier. Something Jisung loved playing as a child and basically forced it onto Minho when he found out that he never got access to it as a child. The elder saw it as an opportunity to heal his inner child.

And oh, did it work. It didn't take long for him to get obsessed with it and reached day 60 in less than 4 days. Jisung called him insane for it but he honestly found it adorable.

Minho just gasped in response and began to push the most random buttons as if that would fix his mistake. It was too late already and yhe customer was already busy grading his order.

"85 points! That's not bad, right?" He smiled up at Jisung and leaned his head against his chest again, who had his arm wrapped firmly around his shoulders.

"You're right, you did well. I'm sorry for doubting you."

"You're forgiven." Minho put his laptop aside and wrapped his arms around his friend's waist to cuddle up properly to him. Something they started doing a lot. Ever since Jisung came by to comfort him, he began to get extremely attached to him. He couldn't go a few hours without seeing him, being apart from him for that long became unthinkable.

"Oh, I'm just so lucky to have such a forgiving friend like you." The other chuckled lightly while he brushed through his soft black hair. "Shouldn't you be getting ready? You have to go to therapy, right?"

It didn't take long for Minho to partially open up to Jisung about the things that were going on in his life. They didn't really talk about his past ever since he first told him about his parents, they were both too nervous to bring it up again because they were too afraid to say the wrong thing. It was still a sensitive subject. But he knew he had to at least tell Jisung about his meds and therapy sessions because of how important they were to him at the moment.

The younger pouted in response and sent him a playful glare. "I don't want to go." He whined and hid his head into his chest while he held him tighter, as if he was afraid someone would rip him away of his friend.

"Come on, big baby." Jisung shook his head as he smiled down at the smaller male."You don't want me to-" He poked the male's sides before tickling him, making him squirm around and giggle in response. "- tickle you, hm?"

Minho shook his head frantically and kept giggling and moving around until he finally managed to get away from him.  "Fine! I'll go, but I'll miss you. Promise you'll come by tomorrow?"

"Of course I will. I saw you almost every day this week, it's a part of my routine now. What else would I be doing?" Jisung sat up and held his friend's hand like he was the most fragile and delicate doll. He sort of was in his eyes. There was nothing he wouldn't do for him. Oh, he wanted to kiss him so bad.

It was wrong of him think like that about his friend. He just couldn't help feeling that way about the boy. The second they met, he felt like he would be something special. He wasn't wrong about that, and it only became more obvious the more they hung out.

"I have to go back to school tomorrow so I won't see you as much."

"Who said anything about seeing each other less? I'll come see you as much as you like, I will even watch you sleep if that's what you want." Jisung chuckled and gently got a hold of one of his small hands, "Go get ready, I'll see you again soon."

Minho eventually gave up on finding reasons not to go out today and went anyway.  It was only an opportunity for him to rant about his new friend. That's exactly what he did, talk about Jisung for about an hour before he had to go home again. Since he didn't want to tell his mom about him and didn't have any friends, he had to tell someone else instead. His therapist didn't mind the rant, she was just relieved that he made a friend, she only saw improvement.

He assumed he would be home alone again, since his mother told him she wasn't able to pick the boy up today. That's why he was so surprised when he saw the car on the driveway. She would drive him home herself all the time if she had the time, this was definitely unusual.

"Minho? Is that you, sweetheart?" She yelled once the front door closed again and ran to the door to stop him from going any further, a big smile plastered all over her face. "Close your eyes."

The male couldn't help but smile as well. He loved getting surprised more than anything, whether it was a present or his favourite meal, he appreciated either way, "What's going on?"

"Shh, you'll see." She held on to his shoulders and carefully guided him towards the living room, where she eventually let go of  him and patted one of his shoulders. Minho could just feel the smile on her face. He was certain that she was more excited about this than he was.

Minho slowly opened his eyes and looked around the room. It took him a moment to see it but soon saw the small orange kitten sitting on the couch. He gasped and ran to the small creature, carefully sitting next to it before he brought him closer. "Is he yours?" He smiled widely and looked up at his mother, cooing at the soft purring noises that came from the cat.

His mom shook her head and sat down next to her son. "He's yours, Min. I thought you might like it. I can't always be here for you, so you'll have this little guy to take care of you."

"Thank you!" His cheeks almost started hurting from how much he was smiling. He really couldn't be happier right now.

"His name is Soonie. The shelter said he's very clingy so make sure to love him, hm" She smiled and pulled her son into a hug, who only giggled in response and leaned further into the hug as he pulled the cat to his chest to hold him close. "I will" He whispered.
