If you were a person
I wouldn't know where to begin
Do I say that I'm sorry?
Or should I thank you again?

You're always there in front of me
You keep my head held high
You force me to lift my face
Even when I don't know why

You shine your light upon me
You tell me to hold on
You remind me that there might be
Something there, after all

So I know there have been times
I've let both you and myself down
But all in all, you still remain
To upturn my ugly frown

So, I guess what I'm trying to say is
If you were a person, I'd ask you
Please, don't give up on me
I'll try not to give up on you
