As Avery lay on her bed, looking at memories on her camera, tears came to her eyes. "Hi! It's Avery and Mom! (Say hi, mom.)" Poking out from the kitchen, Avery's mom delightfully said, "Hi camera. Bye camera," she said popping back into the kitchen. 10 year old Avery sighed, "She's always working. Working, working, working. Mom, why do you work so much?" Mom, who popped back into the kitchen holding up a tray of food answered quickly, "For money, Avery."

Avery's eyes watered. If only her mom could see how much she had now. Avery really had underestimated how much time she had left with her mom. She would give up anything to see her Mom one last time. As Avery wiped away a tear that escaped, she picked up the camera and pressed record. I need to honor this camera. Avery thought, as she straightened her posture and looking dead into the camera.

"Uhhhhh, hi...." she drawled. "I'm Avery, 17 years old, currently living in Hawthorne House. It feels wrong to just let this camera collect dust, so I'm gonna record myself from now on, like this camera is my mom." After all, the camera and the postcards are the only things she had of her mother.

"How's life, you ask? Honestly, it's amazing. This place is HUMONGOUS, I haven't even seen it all yet. The people...." she trailed off, thinking of the Hawthornes. Two in particular.

She coughed, "Uh, the people are fine." Avery was partly regretting this. It felt so embarrassing talking to a camera. Maybe this is why she wasn't cut out for therapy.

She relaxed her face, closed her eyes, and took two deep breaths, like before she did an interview. "I'm Avery, and I am a mess currently. The people are great, the House is breathtaking, but I think the whole world is out to get me. I can't blame them, but wow. The paparazzi, the sudden new death threats on my life, and I live in a never ending mansion full of people jealous enough that they could kill me. The thing about these Hawthornes..."

Avery said, thinking of bubbly Xander, mysterious cowboy Nash, stone cold Grayson, and game-loving Jameson.

"... these Hawthornes have secrets imbedded in their brain. They could probably seduce you into killing yourself, and each of them have their own empire of fangirls. But," Avery said grinning, "They're just like me."
