The brothers looked at Avery, pale in the doorway. They looked back to Avery on the screen, and back to the real Avery. They gulped.
"Heyyyy," Xander squeaked. "What're you doing here?"
"I was going to watch a movie, but now I'm just going to leave. Keep invading my privacy, will you?" Avery screamed, anger rising.
"Avery- it's not what it looks like" Jameson tried, but got interrupted.
"It is what it looks like. Since you already know everything about me, you must know how much I trusted you guys. How much I trusted you. I'll never make that mistake again," Avery finished, defeated and betrayed. She kept her head high and stormed out.
She saw Jameson and Grayson's shadows creeping behind her, but she didn't dare look back. She wouldn't let them see how badly they hurt her. She sprinted to her room, taking a few wrong turns to throw the Hawthorne brothers off her tail. When she finally got back to the room, she flopped on her giant bed and bawled. She cried until her throat was dry and her eyes were red. All she saw was Jameson, the man who said he would never hurt her. She saw Grayson, the man who promised to always protect her.
Both promises were broken.
When she finally contained herself, she took out her camera one last time. Avery took a shaky breath, and recorded one last message for the Hawthorne brothers.
"Hey. I know you'll see this, so I'm going to say one last thing. I hope you saw all you needed to see, because this is the last memory you'll have of me. I'll give you no details, because you don't deserve it, but one word of advice is: don't look for me. Don't care for me. Don't try and hunt me down. It'll only make things worse. Avery, out."
Her message sunk into the Hawthornes' minds.
Until they found out she was missing.
