THE WORST I HAD EVER BEEN ✷ CHAPTER TWELVE:

THERE WAS A hole in the ceiling. The biggest hole Yiseul had ever seen in a roof before. Min Jihoo hung upside down from the hole. His skin was all torn up and holding onto the broken pieces of roof. His face was pale, so pale. She didn't know if it was from being dead or haven been hung upside down for so long.

His arms dangled loosely by his side.

There was no blood. No note. Just her fathers lifeless body.

Yiseul was still yelling when Ahn Suho found her.

She couldn't do anything else. Didn't want too.

It didn't matter anyway. Her screams couldn't bring him back, neither could her cries.

He tried to tell her that it was okay, that everything was going to be alright, but she couldn't even hear his words.

It was all finite - his words of comfort. They did nothing to soothe her aching soul. She didn't even know why it was aching, she hadn't liked her father very much, didn't like him. He was a cruel man with a blistering anger that seemed to consume her. Eat her inside out.

For all of her life she had been compared to that man, and, for the very first time, she could see it as he dangled there, hopeless. It was exactly how she felt in that moment with bloodshot eyes and a ringing in her ears - completely and utterly hopeless.

The light had left her eyes as Suho hugged her close. She could feel his arms wrapped around her waist. His chest pressed up against her side. The sound of his heart beating against hers. But Yiseul could also feel the air escaping her lungs, hear the sound of her ribs crashing against one another, brittle bones violently swaying side to side.

The white of her eyes paled.

The dingy room was so quiet but Yiseul had never heard so much noise before. Had never felt pain so violent, so brutal attack her from all sides.

Everything felt sore - her hands, her head, her heart. Her lungs. She couldn't remember the last time she had felt fresh air enter them.

She was still crying when the police arrived, still wrapped in Ahn Suho's arms. She couldn't let go, how could she now? She had nowhere left to go.

The realization hit her like a gun to the head - Yiseul had nowhere left to go.
