"Have you heard?!" Beomgyu jumped over the top of the couch, making everyone jump. Taehyun almost dropped his cup and cursed under his breath at Beomgyu, who just grinned and ruffled his hair.
"Heard what?" Kai wondered, the only one actually curious now that he had a legitimate reason not to do his math homework. Soobin was too focused on reading his English project and since Yeonjun started middle school, he was almost always gone. He said it was because he had more to do but Taehyun thought it was just because he didn't want to be seen with a bunch of elementary kids. Elementary kids were babies compared to middle school.
"Oh nothing!" Beomgyu sang, twirling his hair around his finger like in one of those over dramatic k-dramas.
"You can't come in here and say 'have you heard' and then not tell us what you've heard?" Soobin scolded. Beomgyu pouted at him.
"Okay fine. The middle school and elementary are smushing classes together for one whole week" Beomgyu announced. The other three stared at him, dumbfounded.
"And..?" Taehyun waited. Soobin went back to staring at his English paper to find any mistakes.
"And...that means that we're going to have classes with Yeonjun again!" Beomgyu added, looking excited. Taehyun and Kai just looked at him, not sure how to respond. Soobin suspiciously didn't even react or look up from his paper.
"That's a good thing! Come on you guys, we're going to have classes again! All five of us" Beomgyu repeated.
"What do you mean again? We never had any classes together in the first place" Taehyun reminded him. Beomgyu pouted at them, crossing his arms.
"I thought you guys would be excited. Guess not" Beomgyu sulked.
"Sorry Gyu. It's just not that big of a deal. It's not like we don't see Yeonjun everyday" Kai shrugged.
"We don't" Soobin muttered. Kai ignored him. Kai was the only one who saw Yeonjun everyday, since they practically lived together. Taehyun still had not figured out why Kai didn't just go to his own house but he was beginning to think that maybe it was because Kai didn't have a house to go to. Taehyun didn't dare to ask, he didn't want to make things awkward or push Kai into talking about something that was uncomfortable to talk about.
"Well, I think it's good news. Even if you don't" Beomgyu decided.
"That's nice Beomgyu" Soobin responded absentmindedly. He had given up now on trying to proofread his paper but he was still using it as an excuse to remain unengaged in the conversation or to show how paranoid he was with his own thoughts. Taehyun noticed. He always noticed and he never asked about things he noticed.
"Whatever. You guys are boring" Beomgyu crossed his arms, sulking. The door opened again and Yeonjun walked in.
"Have you guys heard!?" He announced but ended up getting cut off before he could finish his sentence.
"Yes!" Soobin, Taehyun and Kai answered before he could say anything more.
"Auntie and Uncle are moving back to Seoul!" Yeonjun announced. Taehyun spat out his water and Kai dropped his math sheet. Soobin froze in place. Beomgyu's mouth dropped open and he just stared at Yeonjun over the couch. Nobody looked at Soobin.

Soobin-11. 6th grade
