Jax wakes up the next day, and looks at his calendar. Yes, he's been keeping track of the days since he got there. All his grogginess goes away as he notices the date. It was his fourth year of being there! He springs out of bed, now full of energy and excitement. He flings open the door, not caring about anything other than the cake he was going to make for his 'birthday'. He starts skipping towards the kitchen, giggling.
He takes the ingredients he needs from the fridge, and sets the oven to preheat. Once he finished making the batter, he puts the batter in a pan and sets it in the oven as he gets to work on making buttercream icing. About 40 minutes later, he's finished with the icing, and takes the cake out of the oven. His gloves are heat-proof, so he can just pick it up with his hands. Pomni walks into the kitchen, and sees Jax putting icing on the cake.
"Hi, Jax." Pomni says. Jax flinches a little bit. "Oh. Hi Pomni." He solemnly says, trying to hide his excitement. Pomni walks over to Jax. " What're you making the cake for?" Pomni asks. "I was bored. Say, why don't you mind your business, kid?" Jax says. "Fine.." Pomni mutters before leaving the kitchen.
Jax horizontally cuts the cake in half, and puts buttercream in between the two halves before putting back the top half of the pastry. He grabs some raspberries and puts them on the cake, and then puts the cake in a container as he grabs a fork and knife and walks back to his room. He climbs out the window again, heading to the tree house with the cake. Once Jax reaches his destination, he puts the cake in a basket that's attached to a pulley system. He climbs up the ladder into the tree house, and pulls on a rope. The basket goes up to the balcony of the tree house, and Jax grabs the tupperware with the cake. The basket goes back to the ground as Jax walks over the threshold of the tree house.
Jax opens the container and cuts a slice of cake for himself. He picks the slice with the most raspberries, because they're his favorite fruit. As Jax eats his cake, he thinks about testing the new keys he got the day before. 'I'll do it later.' Jax tells himself. Once he finishes his slice, he puts the rest of the cake and the silverware back into the plastic box, grabs his cigarettes and his lighter, shoves them in his pocket, and pulls the rope for the pulley again, placing the tupperware in the basket. He lets go of the rope, the basket lowering to the ground, and climbs down using the ladder.
Jax walks back through the entrance of the circus tent this time, and manages to make it through without being caught. That is, until Caine pops up behind him. "Say, Jax, what are ya doing with that?" He says. Jax snaps his head to face Caine. "Uh.. Nothing." Jax answers. "Well, that doesn't sound that true, bud. The way you're acting is quite suspicious." Caine persists. Jax's ear twitches in annoyance. "It's just some snacks I made earlier." Jax says, telling part of the truth. Jax knows it's more likely to be fine if you only tell part of the truth from past experience. "Oh. Okay, then. I'm still going to check now." Caine responds. Jax opens the lid, showing Caine the cake. "There, can I go to my room now?" Jax says, rolling his eyes. "Okay." Caine says. Jax closes it again, and heads towards his room, opening the door. Jax takes out one of his notebooks and starts writing. 'Dear diary, I had a pity party today to celebrate my death day.'
