ALEX'S POV

IT WAS LIKE ANY OTHER DAY, another day of working by the raptors. Owen Grady was in a control room with me as we were mindlessly chatting. Owen was a nice person, a little up tight and sassy but he was always nice to me. When I first met him, I called him Mr. Grady out of respect since I'd never met him and that's the reasoning I grew up with. He immediately said 'Why are you calling me Mr. Grady?' and told me just to call him Owen. I dont know why he didnt like it but I respected his wishes. Overtime, we became closer after seeing each other so much. We worked with each other everyday so I convinced him to make a handshake with me. He reluctantly agreed to it and I do it every time I see him, it always brings a smile on his face, even when hes not having a good day.

Owen was getting ready for a training with the raptors when I was told to be ready to watch. Owen has raised the raptors since they were born. The beta being Blue, the next in line Delta who is my absolute favorite, then Echo, then Charlie. I had started working for Jurassic World last summer and I was filling the bucket he used to feed the raptors with dead rats among other things. My job was pretty boring, other than when I was able to work with the raptors. Sometimes ill do things on them while their in the muzzles. Ill clean and pamper them and give them lots of scratches. At first, they did not like me and would growl and hiss at me. Over time they began to warm up to me and accept when I touch them.

Once it was time he waved me on to follow him and grabbed the bucket. We headed up the metal stairs and I gathered where a few others were standing ready to watch. Then, the pig was released. The raptors came rushing towards it, chasing it through the cage. The pig barely made it to the other metal sliding cage door as it shut behind it, raptors inches away.

"HOLD!" Owen holds up his fist and the raptors obediently comply. They abruptly pull to a halt.
"Hey! Okay!" He says, using his clicker. "Eyes on me!" Three sets of eyes pay attention to him, but one stays looking away. "Blue? Blue!" He yells to Blue, the beta of the raptors, who snarls and looks at him. "Watch it." He warns her.

"Charlie. Hey! Don't give me that shit!" Owen responds, after Charlie snarls at him. "Delta! Lock it up!" He points at her as she shakes her head and snarls aswell.

"Good! And we're moving." Owen moves, keeping his hand up to keep their attention. He moves to where the bucket hangs from the railing. The whole time the raptors are snapping at each other and growling.

"HOLD!" He gets to the spot he wants to be in and they pay attention and look at him.

"That's good. That is damn good." Owen clicks the clicker multiple times. This is the first time in a long while they have listened to him this well. He reaches into the bucket and grabs a rat.

"Very good! See, Charlie, that's what you get!" He throws bait to Charlie, who promptly snatches it from the air. "Echo, there you go! Delta! Blue? This one's for you." He throws the last rat to Blue, and she takes it happily ripping it to pieces.

"HOLD! Eyes up!" He holds his hand up and uniformly they look up. Holy shit hes really doing it! He holds them there, they still watch him contently. "Go." He puts his hand down and they immediately scatter. I rush over to him and give him a high-five and offer up our handshake and smile grows on his face and we do the handshake. Barry comes over and gives him a hug.

"You finally did it, man." He laughs and shakes his hand.

"Owen. I was starting to think I hired the wrong guys, but, damn, you got them eating out of your palm." Vic Hoskins comes over. I only know this man cause he is my boss. Ive never really liked him, sometimes he would look at me weird and it made me uncomfortable.

"You came on a good day. It's not usually a happy ending." Owen shakes his hand.

"Is that why you're not sending in your reports?" Hoskins puts his hand on his hip.

"We've been busy." Barry leans against the railing.

"Not too busy to cash your paychecks." He lunges forward for some odd reason. I really dont like that man.

"What do you need, buddy?" Owen asks, wanting to get him out of here.

"A field test." With that, he immediately walks away. I follow them, realizing I have another task to do before heading back to my hotel room. "Hey. I've just seen they can respond to commands. We need to take the research and get it on its feet." He justifies.

"These are wild animals, Hoskins. Trust me, you don't want them in the field." Owen shakes his head.

"I just saw a bond. A real bond. Between man and beast." Hoskins steps in our way to block us from moving forward.

"You're in my way." Owen says flatly ignoring what he was saying.

"And mine... I have work to do..." I try to squeeze past him but he doesn't move.

"Come on. We're the same. We're dogs of war. We know that the military needs to reduce casualties. Some people think that robots are the future. Look, nature gave us the most effective killing machines 75 million years ago. And now we know they can take orders." Hoskins touches him on the shoulder as Owen walks past him.

"We finally make progress and that's the first thing he says? Make a weapon?" Barry seems dumbfounded that this is the first thing we would suggest.

"Shit. Come on, gents. It's grown-up time. Drones can't search tunnels and caves. And they're hackable. The minute a real war breaks out, all that fancy tech is gonna go dark." Hoskins explains, exhaustedly.

"But that tech's not gonna eat them if they forget to feed it." Owen glances at the cage, where the raptors zoom by.

"Look at these creatures. They've got millions of years of instinct in their cells, instinct that we can program. Their loyalty cannot be bought. These guys are gonna run straight into the enemy's teeth and eat them, belt buckle and all." We look back at the cage.

"Then what if they decide they wanna be in control?" Barry faces Hoskins.

"Well, then we remind them who is. We terminate the rogues. Promote only loyal bloodlines. What? What's so funny?" Hoskins leans on the railing, as Barry laughs in his face and walks away. I take that as my opportunity to slip by and go finish my tasks. All I have to do is secure the pig back into his cage, change its food and filters, and make sure everything is locked up.

I head back to the control room and head over to the pigs cage. When I step inside, the pig freaks out. I change its food and all of its filters and what not. I go to lock up the cage and I hit the wrong button, opening the little trap door and the pig slips out.

"Oh shit." I mentally face palm myself and I hear the new guy, Leon scream. The sound of a pig squealing filling my ears as I hear shuffling past the gate.

"Pig loose! Pig loose!"  I run around to the other side of the cage where Hoskins is and see the new guy falling from the ledge.

"Oh shit, Im so totally getting fired." I put my hand over my open mouth and pray the worst doesnt happen.
