The war god

He was just about to draw his sword and leave, but then he noticed something approaching him. It wasn't fast. Soon, a brown-furred and blue-eyed ball of fluff appeared out of a bush and ran up to him.

It's that monster-like cat that Shem Qingqiu had brought to the meeting, and it was rubbing its head against his leg and purring loudly. It looked up at him for a moment with its round pupils.

He sighed and bent down to pick up the cat, who didn't stop him, just rubbing its fur all over his clothes while letting out a constant purring sound. "Can't that brat even take care of his own animals?"

He looked around to see if Shen Qingqiu was nearby, but he could see no trace of the pet's owner. And Shen Qingqiu calls him irresponsible?

He looked down at the ball of fluff in his arms. It had stopped trying to roll around and instead just stared off into nothingness while purring. He's not quite sure as to what to do with the thing.

He has other matters to attend to, but leaving it alone just feels wrong, even if it is that bastard's cat. Maybe he should just go search for Shen Qingqiu, or should he just take it to Bai Zhan Peak?

He sighed and looked around one more time. Taking whatever this cat's name is back to his peak can't be that bad. Shen Qingqiu's always complaining about manners, so it's probably potty trained. He'll just look after it for a bit.

A slight smile appeared on his face as he pet the cat with gentle strokes. Suddenly, another figure appeared from the bushes. For a moment, he thought it would be Shen Qingqiu, but Shen Qingqiu wasn't as weak as this person.

It's Shang Qinghua. Honestly, the man constantly argues with him about how he needs to control his disciples; he disagrees. Their relationship isn't exactly the best, to say the least. It's not the worst possible either.

"Ah, hello. I was asked to get the cat. It ran away," Shang Qinghua said with a bit of nervousness in his voice as he looked at Liu Qingge.

Liu Qingge looked at him with doubt but handed the cat over to him. "Alright," he nodded and unsheathed his sword. The next moment, the Bai Zhan peak lord was already flying away on his sword.

He lets out a sigh of relief and takes a proper look at the cat. Honestly, he's glad that he wrote Liu Qingge to be a bit of a dummy since he might have caught him lying if he were smarter.

He shook the cat gently. "Hey, excuse me, can you understand me?" He received no response. To be honest, the cat looked pretty out of it, like it was zoning out. Was something wrong? Its pupils were so dilated even in daylight.

How in hell is he supposed to find out what's going on with this cat if it's half unconscious? Stealing the cat from under the noses of the two maybe most important people in the sect was hard enough already. To add to that, the cat even managed to run away.

Damn, maybe he was just crazy for expecting a cat to respond to him. He set the cat down onto the ground. The cat didn't do much; it just rolled around and continued purring.

"Fuck, I'm going to be in trouble if Shen Qingqiu finds out that I stole his pet. What should I do?" He muttered while looking at the cat. Something about his words seemed to catch the cat's interest as its ears twitched, and it looked over.

Everything was hazy, but it felt so good. It's probably the happiest that he has felt in years. It's hard to focus on his surroundings, but he's quite sure that this person just said fuck. It's not exactly common language in the setting that he's in.

He tries to focus, but it just feels so nice at the moment. He finally takes a look at the person next to him, and it's none other than Shang Qinghua?

It's hard to process the information, so he doesn't. He just lets the happiness lead him back to the hazy feeling.

Oh god, how come he was so distracted that he didn't even notice Jing suddenly being gone? Surely it couldn't have made it far in such a short amount of time. He'd be able to track it if not for the sealing and concealment talisman. Was bringing Jing here a mistake?

He's searching around like a crazy person at this point. Yue Qingyuan had offered to help, but that didn't exactly ease his nerves. There's a beast loose in a sect full of cultivators. What if the ribbon came off?

If anyone on this goddamn mountain hurts Jing, he's more than willing to cut atleast a few fingers off, maybe do even more. Since when did he get so attached?

He stumbles through another bush only to see Jing lying on the ground while Shang Qinghua is squatting next to it, looking all depressed. He quickly stepped out and scooped Jing into his arms. He checked to see if Jing was injured before glaring down at Shang Qinghua.

"What are you doing with Jing?" Shen Qingqiu glared down at him in a cold manner. Maybe Shen Qingqiu would remind him of those cartoon villains with their cats if the man wasn't so threatening.

"Shixiong, well, I was just wondering why your cat was here. I was going to return it but got a bit distracted with... with how cute it is!" Shen Qingqiu's eyes narrowed with suspicion, but he seemed to care more for his cat as he mostly ignored Shang Qinghua.

Honestly, how had the main villain of the story gotten so attached to a cat? This isn't something that happened in the book. Something has changed, and he needs to find out what.

"May I ask who the merchant was that sold Jing to you? I noticed something strange about it." This 'Jing' actually seemed quite average, but with the way Shen Qingqiu looked at him after he said that, there must be something going on with the cat.

"You may not. None of this is your business, so don't stick your nose into it," Shen Qingqiu said with an icy glare before drawing his sword and flying away, leaving Shang Qinghua alone.

There might be another transmigrator here. It might get more dangerous, but he needs to find that person.
