Natalie's Pov

I quickly broke the eye contact, feeling the weight of the tense silence. Retrieving my history homework, I sensed her gaze lingering on me, making me uneasy.

"I need to head home, I have to look after my younger sibling," I lied, hastily packing my belongings. Though the truth was I simply couldn't bear the stifling atmosphere any longer.

"Can I leave?" I asked, my tone edged with frustration.

She nodded curtly, her expression unreadable. "Yes, you may, but if i find out you're not being honest to me, Natalie, you will be in big trouble. People don't deceive me, and they certainly don't display attitude," she warned, her voice tinged with authority. Her words irked me, and I couldn't help but roll my eyes as I headed for the door, my temper flaring.

As I reached for the doorknob, her voice softened unexpectedly. "No goodbye?" she questioned, a hint of amusement in her tone.

"Fuck off," I muttered, avoiding her gaze before storming out of the room, the door slamming shut behind me.

Valentina's Pov

She wont get away with that.

Fuming with frustration, I swiftly gathered my belongings and made my way to my BMW. Sliding into the driver's seat, I started the engine and set off towards my home.

As I drove, my thoughts were consumed by the upcoming operation. My team needed to locate the event's venue promptly, the safety of my associates depended on it. We were planning a strategic attack against the French next week. Seeking justice for my people lost in recent attacks. Pulling into the driveway of my sprawling mansion, I sighed heavily, preparing myself for the task ahead. Entering the building, I made my way to the lower floor where my trusted team operated.

"Any updates on the event's location, Alex?" I inquired, my tone edged with urgency.

Alex nodded, his expression focused. "Yes, Miss. It's set to take place in Marseille at 9:00 PM."

Turning to Diego, I issued my commands firmly but without hostility. "Diego, ensure everything is prepared, from the logistics to the weaponry."

"Understood, Miss," Diego responded promptly. With a nod of approval, I took a moment to gather my thoughts before addressing the team once more.

"Let's ensure everything is in place for a successful operation. Lives depend on our precision and efficiency." The tension in the room eased slightly as my team members acknowledged the gravity of the task ahead. With a renewed focus, we set about finalizing our plans.

As I stepped out of my mansion, the stress was clinging to me . I needed an escape, a break from the constant pressure. So, I hopped into my car and sped off to the park.

The drive was like a therapy session, with the sunset painting the sky in strokes of fiery orange and soft pink. They remind me of simpler times, when I used to watch them with my mom. Now, it's just me.

I parked up, grabbed a pack of cigarettes, and lit one up. I know it's not the healthiest habit, but I can't help it. Taking a drag, I let the smoke curl around me as I strolled down the path, soaking in the colors of the sky and trying to forget about all the crap waiting for me back at home.
