The fire in the center of the make ship camp burned with no disturbance. This place was the place of the dead. There was no wind, just the floating of the spirits that filled the ruins. People didn’t travel here unless they were a Summoner, and this summoner would be accompanied by her Guardians.
This was a group of seven, a large group compared to the other summoners and guardians. One of the members rose to his feet and looked around. All he saw were the torched grounds and the tops of a city 1,000 years old. This city was called Zanarkand.
The warrior walked up the path and onto a hill. He looked out at the setting sun, which casted an eerie feeling throughout the land. He looked down into the water at his reflection. He was blonde with a tanned face. His blue eyes were cheerful and energetic, but this time they held sorrow. He once knew this place. How it was long ago, 1,000 years ago.
“Listen to my story,” he whispered to no one, “this may be our last chance..”
