WITNESS STATEMENT

Witness Statement: Doris Emeto, housegirl at The Adichies'

On 4th of June, I was in the kitchen washing the dishes. Mr. and Mrs. Adichie were in the living room having a heated conversation. I tried not to pay them any attention since it was something they do on daily basis. By the time I finished up with the dishes, Mr. Adichie and his wife were no longer in the living room. But their voices could still be heard coming from the bedroom upstairs.
That night, about 9:35 p.m, as I was preparing for bed, I heard screams. Mr. Adichie screaming for help. I couldn't ignore it because it sounded so terrifying. So I quietly climb up the stairs to their bedroom. But there was no more screaming at the time.
When I stood by the threshold, I was shocked at what I discovered. Mrs. Adichie was stabbing Mr. Adichie several times on the chest. Afraid, I ran downstairs into my room and bolted the door.
After some time, I reopen my bedroom door. Mrs. Adichie was gone taking the car. I called Mr. Adichie's parents, they immediately came and they called the police.
