Why Do They Always Ruin Everything? (Euphoria OC)

Chapter 4: Why Did You Have To Ruin It?

              It's been a couple of months since the auditions. The rumors are still around but they aren't as prominent as they were before. The cast is doing amazing and Maddy as the lead is the most perfect combination. I'm sitting backstage with Lexi as she is getting her hair and makeup done. It was the first showing of the play and I was so nervous so I decided to talk to her to calm my nerves a bit. "You are gonna be great Lex," I say

            "Thanks, but I wouldn't be here without you little sis" she replies. 

            "I try," I say, just as Maddy walks into the room.

             "Hey Jae, you need to announce the start of the show and everything," Maddy says. 

             "Sounds good, I'll be right out, Good luck you two," I say. 

             I walk out of the room and backstage. I take a deep breath in and out to compose myself, then walk out on stage in front of the microphone. "Good Evening everyone. My name is Jaelyn Howard and I co-wrote the play "If I Was A City Girl" with my older sister Lexi, but am also the director of this play. I thank you all for coming out to support your actors and the East Highland High School theater program. I ask now that you silence all devices and refrain from using flash photography during the show because these actors have worked so hard to put this on tonight. Now please, sit back, relax, and enjoy the show." I say into the microphone and then walk off stage as the crowd erupts with applause.

          I signal to the backstage people to start bringing all the set pieces onto the stage to begin the first act, but just as that happens my worst nightmare comes true. Nate and Cassie jump onto the stage and start to throw trash and white powder at the set pieces running them all. I begin to feel the tears coming and I freeze in place. Why would they do this? Why did they have to ruin everything? I start to back up further behind everything trying to hide. 

       Lexi runs to me and holds me as I fall to the floor crying. I hear lots of commotion, Maddy yelling at Cassie and Nate to stop. Cassie falls off stage because Maddy pushes her off. She also continues to scream at Nate for ruining everything for me and calls him horrible for listening to a narcissist like my sister Cassie. Nate hates it when people call him horrible and something clicks in his head that he is horrible for doing this to me. He walked backstage trying to find me. I hear Cassie screaming that I deserved it and that he shouldn't apologize to me but it's too late he is already next to me, wanting to talk to me. 

    (A/N: Sorry if that shit is cringe. I wrote this for school so it's kid-friendly if yk what I mean. 🤪)
