"No, Will," he answered and as quickly as he could he began to climb the stairs with his daughter in his arms. "I must leave as soon as possible."
Will frowned and hurriedly followed her up the stairs until they reached the master bedroom that belonged to both of them. Without knowing what to say, she watched as Gloria left the girl on the bed and took off the olive green dress she was wearing.
"What are you talking about?"
"I have to do something, which I'll tell you later," he simply responded. "Nick came in a few minutes ago spouting nonsense as is typical of him, he said something about what was happening again and that we should protect the legacy."
Gloria walked back and forth while putting on blue jeans. “What legacy are you talking about?”
"You're welcome, like you said, it's just Nick saying stupid things," Will said hesitantly and that caught Gloria's attention, who turned to look at him quickly as she slid a sweater over his arms.
" You're not telling me. " Gloria approached Will. " We've been friends all our lives Will, you know absolutely everything about me and I know about you too."
Will stared at Gloria while his head was in a mess, but he couldn't tell her anything about what he was hiding. “You should go.”
And although they were simple words, Gloria understood. Will knew something she clearly didn't, and him telling her she should leave only confirmed it. Without thinking twice he zipped up his high boots, walked down the stairs quickly and left the house. She unlocked her car and climbed into it, ready to make the thirty-minute trip to Shadyside in fifteen.
If someone had told her a few years ago that she would be trying to break into the small house where Ziggy Berman was holed up, Gloria would have laughed. She could spend hours sitting on the seat of her car staring at the porch of the house, but she would never dare get out of her car and knock on the door like crazy like she was doing at that moment.
"Ziggy! "She shouted while hitting the wood with his knuckles. “Ziggy!”
Without success he descended the porch stairs and walked around the house looking for some way to see inside. Everything seemed to be dark and completely closed, until he managed to see one of the windows completely open. She ran quickly and put his head in seeing that the house seemed to be empty. With a small jump he climbed through the window and clung to the counter where the dishwasher was, she pushed himself up with force and finished putting her body through the window.
The kitchen was completely empty and dark so Gloria headed to the small living room and without thinking much she walked carefully in the darkness with only the light of the moon, while she looked around the place she found a small newspaper on the floor that she knew perfectly well. next to a photo. Slowly he bent down and took both things, he stared at the photo, where a young Ziggy and his sister Cindy were posing next to the large sign for Camp Nightwing, or as some people used to call it, Camp Terror.
