It had been two days since the dinner and Bard was nervous. Had he really offended the elf king so badly that there wouldn't be another meeting?
But for Bards luck he wasn't completely bored. He could go on walks and see what Mirkwood looked like. Bard hadn't exactly gotten a permission to do so but since nobody hadn't stopped him, he either. Although he was sure that Thranduil knew but just didn't bother with him.
After Bard had washed up someone knocked on the door.
"Yes?"
"His Majesty has invited you to a meeting."
"When?"
"In ten minutes, sir"
"Okay, I will soon be out."
Bard put on the nice clothes he had recieved two days ago, then he was ready to go.
Soon he entered the same room he had two days ago, except there was no cutlery on the round table.
Thranduil was standing in front of a windown like he was looking something.
"Good evening your Majesty, are we finally having a meeting about trading?"
Thranduil walked to the table "Good evening king of Dale. Sit down." He said while sitting down
Bard sat down and again some elves came in carrying two glasses and wine and two bottles. The elves put them in front of Bard and Thranduil and left leaving the two alone.
"You finally decided to have another meeting?"
"Yes, well you do have something i want but i can not get." Thranduil said to Bards suprise
Bard raised his eyebrows.
"There is a fish i want. A fish that lives in the Long Lake particularly in the northern side."
"You want a fish? I do not follow?"
"There lives a school of fish called Swanfish. I want you to provide us that fish"
"You want us to provide you with Swanfish? The population of that fish is not that great and even us the lake-men don't fish for them. But you want us to provide you with that fish?"
"Yes, of course I wouldn't want the fish to go extinct and to keep up the population you would have to raise atleast some of the fish."
"I think i can do that..." Bard said sipping his drink. "But i would like you could tell me why you can not get this fish by yourself?"
"Us elves have never been the ones to fish and also that lake was to close to Erebor when Smaug was alive. And now that Smaug isn't alive anymore you, the former laketowns people live in Dale. That means the lake, atleast the northen side, belongs to you?"
"Ah, yes it does, I remember reading some old map of Dale and the lines are clear. But what else do you want in return?"
"What do you have to offer?" Thranduil asked sipping his wine . Bard thought he might be making fun of Dale but didn't say anything.
"We do make good boats, we are also good at building."
"Tha-" Thranduil started but didn't get finish his sentance, someone had blown in to the horn warning the elves about a danger.
To be continued...
