December 26, Monday.
"I'm gonna sing for my friend who just got his heart broken. This is for you, Kiyotaka!" Ken yelled as he gripped the mic, standing in front of the screen.
"♪ Ue wo muite arukou ♪
♪ Namida ga koborenai youni ♪
♪ Omoidasu, haru no hi ♪
♪ Hitoribocchi no yoru ♪"What a ridiculous statement to start up the first song.
The rest of us cheered him on.
Suddenly, Akito nudged me from the side with a smirk.
"So? Are you gonna tell us the details?" he asked.
"What details?"
Across the table and directly in front of me was Haruka. She was also smirking like an idiot, so she probably got what Akito was trying to ask even though she couldn't hear us properly.
"To be honest, I'm also curious." Keisei, who was also beside me, joined in on the conversation.
Well, this much was expected. They were my closest friends, after all.
After a couple of rounds, we finally decided to rest a bit to eat the food we ordered. We wouldn't usually take a break at the same time, but no one wanted to miss out on what I had to say. Thus, the room became quieter with no song in the queue.
"Really, what a surprise. You might've been unreadable, Kiyotaka, but Kushida... I always thought she liked you. You can imagine the shock we all felt when we heard about the rumors," said Akito.
"I know, right? And we were even more shocked when you confirmed them." Haruka put on a thinking face. "It's so weird though... It wouldn't have been too surprising if Kyou-chan confessed to you and you rejected her, but I can't believe the opposite happened."
"Did you have a fight before you confessed to her? I know I can be a bit dense, but even I can see that Kushida thought fondly of you."
Ken and Airi were also listening intently. For now, I just have to tell them the "truth" that Kushida and I had crafted.
"For those who knew Kushida and I well, it's quite obvious that the whole thing seemed odd. The truth is... Keisei is kinda right. Kushida and I had a bit of a falling out before I confessed. I won't get into details though."
"I see... Why would you confess at that time? Such timing— You basically shot yourself in the foot, you know?" asked Akito.
"Maybe, but as weird as it sounds, it felt like the right moment to do it. I honestly don't have any regrets."
Hearing that, they all did nothing but smile. I'm starting to feel bad for hiding the real truth.
"Welp, if you're fine with what happened, then we'll stop talking about it. Let's just sing it out today, eh?" As usual, Akito made the mood better with his words.
He may be quiet most of the time in the classroom, but when the group is together, he acts like a true leader. I'd be more than happy to change the group's name to the "Miyake Group" instead.
"Let's duet, Kiyotaka! I'll show you the difference between us!" And of course, Ken lifts the atmosphere with his energy.
"I might not be a great singer, but you're not better than me, Ken. Your voice is just loud." I bit back.
"Is that right?! Then let's battle it out to know the truth!"
Haruka was laughing her brains out as the two of us "battled". Keisei and Akito could only sigh while Airi tried to calm Ken down. At this rate, the staff might scold us for being too noisy.
