The truth

"Who informed you about that?" asked Zhehan. Tears were shed due to the sorrow in front of Lisha.

At this very moment, Zhehan perceives that his world is shattered upon hearing just a single word. He is uncertain about what to do, and the agony in his heart is intensifying with each passing second.

Lisha pauses for a moment and gazes at Zhehan. Her countenance is filled with concern and empathy towards Zhehan, regardless of his efforts to conceal it. She can still sense Zhehan's pain that reflects in his eyes.

Her eyes well up with tears. She is unsure why she is crying, but she knows that her own emotions cannot compare to Zhehan's.

She looks into Zhehan's eyes, attempting to comprehend his thoughts. Only when she notices Zhehan's slight relief does she speak again.

"I heard it from Matthew," Lisha spoke.

"He reached out to me. He claims to have witnessed Gong Jun marrying a girl named Alexine." Lisha continues, averting her gaze towards the ground.

Zhehan is taken aback by what he just heard. His heart stings, and his sadness knows no bounds.

He feels betrayed by his trust and hesitates to inquire about everything from Lisha. It appears as though he is unable to articulate his thoughts. The piercing pain consumes him, rendering him speechless.

Meanwhile, Lisha cannot help but feel sorrow for Zhehan. She avoids even glancing at him because she knows that doing so will cause her to cry even more... She observes Zhehan, filled with hope as he patiently awaits Gong Jun's return. She witnesses Zhehan's daily tears and desperate cries, hoping to reach Gong Jun. She watches as his hopes rise and fall each day. She witnesses Zhehan waiting for Gong Jun for the past 10 months. She watches him.

(If I had known it would turn out like this... I would never have agreed to that selfish request.) Lisha whispered.

Gong Jun had asked her to watch over Zhehan before his departure. He did not want Zhehan to be alone without any companionship while he was away. So, Gong Jun entrusted Lisha with the task of looking after Zhehan, assuming that nothing could go wrong. Lisha accepted it as a token of love and the final request from Gong Jun. But little did she expect it to come to this. That Gong Jun would suddenly leave.

As a result, she bears the weight of everything, including the burden that Gong Jun placed on Zhehan's heart.

"I don't understand, how did Matthew find out?" Zhehan questioned, eyeing Lisha. He appears somewhat calmer, but a tinge of pain lingers in his eyes.

Lisha pauses for a moment and meets Zhehan's gaze.

"He claims to have seen it with his own eyes. He wasn't present at the actual wedding ceremony, but he received an invitation to the wedding reception, which took place after the wedding. There, he witnessed Gong Jun sitting beside Alexine, accepting gifts from the guests who attended the wedding," Lisha replied.

Upon hearing these words, Zhehan is unsure about his feelings anymore. He is confused and questions if Gong Jun truly did this to him. He waits for him. He cannot believe that he has lost him.

Lisha carefully observes Zhehan. She analyzes every gesture he makes and notices that he is gradually calming down. She proceeds to speak once more.

"Do you believe it?" she asks Zhehan. Zhehan glances at her. Sadness is written all over his face as he looks away without uttering a word in response.

Lisha diverts her gaze and looks at the rooftop horizons. She sighs and speaks again.

"Matthew is an honest person, don't you think?" Lisha says. "However, I still find it hard to believe what he claims."

"I know Alexine very well. Even as a rival in love, she remains a pure and kind-hearted woman. She is responsible and possesses great integrity. Her character is as dignified as jade. From a personality standpoint, she surpasses me. If Gong Jun spoke to her, there is no way she would reject him. So, I don't know what transpired."

However, considering Gong Jun's perspective, I still cannot believe that he would do this to you. He pleaded, begged, and cried in front of me on that day, requesting a breakup. And right before he left, he did not forget his inconsideration and asked me to take care of you. For someone who loves you like that, how could he betray you later on?" Lisha expresses her thoughts on Gong Jun and Alexine.

Zhehan listens attentively to every word spoken by Lisha. Her statement renders everything in Zhehan's mind muddled. It's like a straight line suddenly curving, giving rise to question after question.

If Lisha's words were true, then what happened to Gong Jun?

Consumed by curiosity and internal debate, Zhehan follows his instincts and takes action. He stands up and grasps Lisha's arm, looking directly at her.

Lisha is surprised by Zhehan's sudden behavior. She is perplexed as to why Zhehan acted this way. He looks much better than before, and his eyes reflect a glimmer of newfound hope.

"Can you assist me?" Zhehan implores. "Tell me where he is. I want to discover the truth."
