"Yeah. Yeaaah!" I saw her waving ridiculously to her juniors.
I kept on observing her as she tried to hail a cab. I admit its a long walk home from this place but we usually enjoy long walks together. Small drops of rain started pelting my face and then it came pouring. It's raining. Hard.
I saw her try to run after a cab and a couple immediately rode it leaving her standing in the rain. I saw her looking up and not moving. Is she drunk?
"Claire."
She turned around and almost slumped on the ground.
"Who's t-there?!" She lifted her knuckles and almost punched me straight in the face if I never stopped her hands in time. She's pretty harmful to those who don't actually know her. She is pretty to me and harmful to them.
"It's Xa--"
She pulled me abruptly and looked at my face enough to kiss her senselessly.
"--You look like the person I l-like!"
"Now you admit that you like me?"
"It's a crush! It'll fade away in time!" She slurred.
Holding her waist for her balance I may have held her a bit so strong that I saw her eyes widened. I sighed and relaxed my hand.
"Let's get you home." I held her hand and guided her to walk. No cab has stopped for us and we are soaking wet because of the rain. I decided that we would start walking home.
"You look like Xavier.." she's drunk walking. Swaying back and forth and almost falling to the ground if I wasn't around.
"Well.. I am Xavier."
"Look! It's my house!" She happily exclaimed and jumped up and down. "W--wha--t? Xavier?"
"I know. We live in the same building, Claire. And yes-- I am Xavier."
"And that means--"
Her cheeks flushed. "What?" I asked, nonchalant.
"Thank you for taking me home. I am not drunk anymore." She tried walking straight but to her dismay, her feet won't cooperate. She tried to balance herself on the gutter but failed miserably. "I swear! I am not--!"
I caught her in time and sighed. I carried her bridal style and went inside the building.
"I swear.." she murmured while her head is slumped on my shoulder her hot breath fanning my neck. I got goosebumps together with the smell of alcohol and her natural smell or her perfume mixing.
She'll be the death of me.
"Claire." I called her attention.
"What?" She whispered not budging on my shoulder.
"Stop that."
"What?" She again whispered. I took a deep breath and shook my head. I tried to ignore what I was feeling and raced to the elevator. I need to take her to her unit and I need to go to mine. This attraction is getting dangerous each second that passes.
I stood in front of her unit and held her up.
"It won't open." She scrunched her nose. "Xavier, the door won't open?" She looked at me and frowned.
"You.. you need your fingerprint." I calmly held her right hand and pressed her thumb on the sensor. The door opened with a click.
She pulled her hand forcefully from my grasp and looked at me. "You shouldn't hold a woman's hand if you don't like her!" She tried walking straight inside and I meant to go home but I saw her sat on her short hallway and lean on the wall. She's soaking wet, her hair is plastered on her head, her shirt dripping from the rain.. She'll get sick.
Who told you that I don't like you?
Mustering my resolve, I went inside her apartment and helped her up.
"W-Why are you here?" She asked her eyes unfocused. She is drunk, alright.
"You needed my help." I answered as I guided her to her sofa.
"Why did you drink too much, Claire?"
"I killed two wanderers!" She motioned two with her fingers.
"How many fingers am I holding up?" I asked and held three fingers up.
"Why do you have four hands?" She asked back.
"I am doubting the number of wanderers you defeated today. Are you sure it's two?" I teased her. She huffed and tried to punch me.
"Whoa hot stuff." I laughed.
"Why are you doubting me? I am Linkon City's top hunter!" She exclaimed slurring. "Remove Xavier on top and I will be top and he's under me.. hmm.." she closed her eyes. "Writhing in pleasure."
I stopped laughing.
"Claire."
She opened her eyes and smiled at me. "Look it's Xavier!"
"Stay there." I quickly took some towels at the bathroom and threw her one. "Dry yourself."
"I am sleepy." She closed her eyes again.
"You're not sleepy." I took the towel from her and pat her dry.
She stopped moving, I seriously thought she's already asleep but when I looked at her, she is looking at me intently, not even blinking.
"You have to change clothes." I cleared my throat.
"You're also dripping wet." She grabbed the towel off my hands and dried my hair.
I am leaning forward to her so she could reach my hair while she's sitting on the sofa. I gulped.
"Will you be fine on your own now?" I asked as I withdrew my stance. I need to go.
"I feel dizzy." She murmured.
"You need to change clothes on your own."
"I can't."
"I have to go, Claire. You can do it."
"I can't." She insisted.
"Claire. This is dangerous." I tried scaring her--.
"I live for danger, Xavier." She answered her eyes seriously looking at me now. Unwavering.
"Damn. You look so good." I tried kissing her plump lips and she kissed back, giving me access to her warm mouth.
"Please stop this if you're not up to it." I begged, my voice taking another note lower because of the heat she's giving off. "Stop me while you can."
"I need to make a point to you. That I want you."
FUCK.
I want you.
I want you.
I want you.
I want you.
DOUBLE FUCK.
I never curse. I tried to remain calm at all times. I was known to be the calm one.
But this woman..
"If you're doing this just 'cause you're drunk. Stop." I gripped her arms. Eyes closed. Clinging to the last crumbs of sanity in my system. I have to resist.
Then..
I made a mistake of looking at her.
Her hair slightly dried now. So sexily disheveled, her cheeks flushed pink, her lips plump and red, her neck in front of me, so fair and her chest..
"Sometimes I can feel you are here, but most times, it's like you're trapped somewhere else. Your heart isn't always at the present."
"Claire.." I kissed her again and sucked her lower lip giving me a moan that made my blood rush through my ears. "I am at the present."
"Now. Yes, you've been so hard to reach. Like a star. I know you're there.. but.. so distant," she closed her eyes letting her mouth talk. I stayed still.
I snaked my hands on her flat stomach and slipped it inside her shirt. Her breath hitched.
"I never liked anyone as much as I like you, Xavier."
