"you're looking strange, Ranpo. What's up?"

Ranpo sighs a rolls his head on the desk, among papers and papers.

"nothing at all"

"....you're worried." Yosano looks at the brunette with sharp eyes, trying to guess what was going on in his friend's head.

"no, I'm not. I'm just tired and I've finished my last pack of marshmellows." Ranpo sighs louder, helpless by the lack of his very important sweets.

"I really don't know how you still don't have diabet-"

"....." Ranpo stays unusually quiet with the head on the desk.

Yosano is slightly worried by the other's actions. Something bad must have happened. Probably more than just some mere marshmellows.

"don't look at me like that, I'm fine" Ranpo mutters.

"are you sure?" Yosano is a little suspicious

"yeah!" Ranpo suddenly stands up and rushes out the door, with his cloak still in his hands. His voice was quite annoyed, but from his eyes yosano can see that a little spark has turned on again.

-.-.

"Poe, I'm lost. Pick me up."

"what?!" A confused and surprised phone comes from the other side of the phone. Then, a sigh reaches Ranpo's ears. "fine. Where are you now?"

"by the cemetery."

"......why are you there? At....7.40 in the morning?" Poe asks, kind of worried and curious at the same time, while with a hand holding the phone at with the other dressing up.

"oh, nothing. Come on, pick me up, it's cold here" Ranpo cuts off the question abruptly, but Poe is kind of used to that. Poe thinks there must be something his friend can't tell for now, like some sort of case or...private thing?
"oi, where are you?" the voice from the phone snaps him back to reality

"yeah, yeah, I-I'm coming"
"good, then"

The car ride was unusually silent. Poe, typically unsure of how to initiate conversation, waited for the other to speak. However, this time, Ranpo spent the entire journey gazing out of the car window, making Poe worry about his friend's state. Why was he so quiet? Why was he acting so oddly? Why was he at a cemetery at 7 in the morning?

"Look at the road, not at me," Ranpo mumbled, still looking away.

"Okay, but you're worrying me, Ranpo. Has something bad happened?" Poe asked, genuinely concerned for his friend.

"It's just... I'm involved in a very challenging case... and, yes, I feel like I'm in one of those crime films I criticized yesterday: I don't have all the information I need in front of me. I have to search for it, and it's so lame, damn it!" Ranpo's voice took on an annoyed tone.

"Do you... want... maybe... some help?" Poe offered, careful not to offend.

"No... I'm sorry... but you can't help me this time... just... carry on with your life as usual. I promise I'll resolve this case as soon as possible, okay? After all, I'm a genius, and nothing can stand between me and solving the case!" Ranpo ended with a smirk, his confidence returning.

Poe managed a small smile at this, sincerely relieved by the turn of events, yet still concerned about the nature of the case that remained a mystery to him.
