We were sitting on his couch, limbs tangled and eyes closed, the rhythmic beat of our breathing chests comforting our bodies. Beat. Beat. Beat. Silence hung over the hair like clouds in a grey sky, but it was the kind of silence that was refreshing. Sometimes you need a break from words and just sit in silence.
But in that wordless moment, he reached in his pocket and drew out a sharpie. Dislocating the cap from the pen, I watch him in admiration and curiosity. Wild green eyes like the roaring ocean fixated on my fingers. Calloused hands met my delicate ones and he traced my hand like he wanted to memorize it. Tracing my palm to my fingertips and rubbing my chipping dark blue nail polish.
"What are you doing?" My voice is quiet and comes out as a whisper.
He then takes the opened pen and starts to draw right beneath my thumb. The small, black marking appeared to be an eight turned sideways.
"An infinity sign," he smirked, and intertwined our hands. "To show that you and me are forever."
"You're so cheesy," A small giggle escaped my lips and they lean into his. Kissing him was soft like velvet and warm like hot chocolate and kissing him made me feel like home.
"You and me forever," I agreed against his lips.

But darling, little did I know forever didn't last very long.
