The cat, now called Quince, stared at the black cat with sadness and tears as she started to speak in a soft and sad tone, "Of course, your fur, your collar, I should remember, my son, my kit, what happened to you? Are you ok? Why did I see blood on your bell? Did something hurt you?" Scourge said nothing and just ran to her and gave her a warm embrace quietly, mumering to her a single word, "mom." "I missed you." replied Quince. Cinderpelt watched them together, a mother reuniting with her kit. Scourge backed away first, still tears in his eyes meowing to her, "Don't worry, mom, I have a good life now." Quince smiled and picked up the bell, giving it to him, "here you should have this." Scourge nodded his head and put it behind his collar under his strap. They walked back up the wooden steps into the room where cinderpelt woke up. "This is where you'll stay tonight until you're better. I'll go get some cat food for you." Scourge looked like he had just heard something bad had happened. "Ew, no, I haven't eaten that slop since I was still a kittypet and will not eat it now." He gagged. Cinderpelt didn't look that exited either hearing moonstar and fireheart say it looked like rabbit droppings and tasted worse as they were once kittypets. "Oh, don't be salty, my son, it will only be one time, and that's it." She chucked and gave a small grin, "besides, you don't want to starve, do you?" Cinderpelt grunted in agreement as scourge reluctantly nodded his head. Quince smiled and padded to find the twolegs for food. Cinderpelt and scourge smiled and chatted for the rest of the time. It had been a few minutes since Quince had left to get the two cats to get them food, and the cats enjoyed the alone time together. Cinderpelt chatted about her clan life and scourge was fascinated and interested in every detail, "So you're the medicine cat in your clan right." Asked scourge. Cinderpelt nodded as scourge meowed, "My clan has never had a medicine cat." Those words surprised Cinderpelt. She had never heard of a clan that didn't have a medicine cat but quickly understood why they never had one since they lived in the streets and never learned how to use herbs or how to even find them. "Well, how about when you get back I can teach a cat how to be one and learn herbs." Coaxed cinderpelt. Scourge didn't seem fazed, "my clan doesn't need a medcine cat. It is strong. it doesn't need a weak soft medicine cat." Cinderpelt raised an eye and stared at scourge with a grin. "Well then, why do I see there clan leader in a twoleg nest waiting for kittypet slop?" She giggled and nuged his shoulder. Scourge blushed and looked down to his paw. Suddenly, Quince rushed in with a scared and worried look on her face. "You two need to go now!" She blusterd. Scourge looked surprised and stared at his mother. "Why?" Scourge Inquired. "It's the twolegs! They want to give you two away!" Quince explained, "If you don't leave now, you will never get home!" Scourge and cinderpelt quickly nodded, and Quince jumped to the nearest window and used her front paws to push it up. "Here, jump down into the pool. I'll be right behind you." Cinderpelt was shocked to find out that a house cat was coming on their trip. "Are you sure you can keep up with us?" Asked scourge. "Hey, I'm old, but I still have some days in me." She rasped.
Scourge nodded and jumped down into the pool. Cinderpelt was next and jumped down. Scourge quickly grabbed her neck fluff and paddled to the edge, and finally got to dry land. Last was Quince, she jumped down and paddled to Scourge and got on land. They all jumped over the fence into the unknown to find their clans. Scourge took one look back at his old home. He would never see it again on their long journey.
