"so you ready?" Jake asks me as i get into the truck.
"yep. all ready" i say. for some reason my stomach hurts and i'm smiling for no reason.
"ok so where do you wanna get lunch?" he asks. as if i'd know the places in this town to eat.
"Dude, really? do i look like i know what food places are here" i say.
he just laughs. "i guess not. would you rather go to the lake or the beach" he asks me.
"um.. the lake. and you didn't answer me"
"what did i not answer" he says looking confused.
"ugh never mind. where are we going for food?" i ask. i look at the temperature gauge. it says 99 degrees. i feel so hot i could just randomly melt.
"how about sonic" he says.
"ok sounds good. how long are we going to be out?'' i ask. i wanna go home and figure out who i was.
"I don't know. a few hours probably" he says casually.
"A few hours? just to eat and go to the lake?" i looked at him confused.
"yea. i have a present for you" he says. he has a huge smile on his face.
"ok? what's the present?" i ask. i wanna know what it is.
"you'll see later" he says. ugh i hate boys! why can't he just tell me?!
"ok whatever. turn up the music" i say. i'm not interested in talking. just listening to music and chilling out with food.
we get to the fast food place called Sonic, we ordered our food then went to the lake.
we get there and no one else is there.
"where is everyone?" i say.
"they're at school" he says.
"school? why aren't we at school?" i ask.
"cause you can't go to school with amnesia."
"well why aren't you in school." i ask him.
"because i graduated school a year early, and then i got a job" he said.
"hm interesting." i say as Jake get's a blanket out of the back of his truck. "Where do you want to sit?" he asks.
"umm somewhere by the water, but in shade" i say. i don't wanna get a sunburn.
"ok sounds good to me" he put's the blanket under a tree near the water. "Is this good?" he asks.
"yep" i say. we sit down and he gives me a chilli cheese dog, mottzerella sticks, and a root beer.
"thank you for the picnic and for bringing me here Jake." i say.
"no problem girly." he says.
"why now?"
"what do you mean?" he says.
"why after all this time of knowing each other do you decide now is a good time to hang out?" i ask him.
"well after you got hit, i realized that anything could happen at any moment. you couldv'e died in the hospital.. and i just want the time we have to friends to be great and to mean something" he said.
"oh.. so where's my present" i say trying to change the subject.
"you really want it?" he asks.
"absolutely!" i say. i'm getting excited. and the my stomach starts feeling weird again
he leans over and kisses me.this seems to last a long time before we pull away from each other.
"soo um how's your food" he asks. obviously trying to make thing's un-awkward.
"it's great, how's yours?" i ask. my face is red. and i don't mean like sunburn type red. i mean like an apple!
"it's good. sooooo" he says. his face is also red.
all i can do is laugh. "oh my gosh!!"
"what?!?!" he says looking confused.
"your face is bright red." i say.
"well your's isn't exactly normal either" he says. we both just laugh.
i finally get up and grab his hand."what are you doing " he asks me.
"Take off your shirt." i say. he looks at me blankly.
"excuse me?" he says.
"well if you want to swim with your shirt on then ok" i say as i take off my shirt. the breeze feels nice on my skin. "OH! haha ok" he says as he takes off his shirt.
"he picks me up and walks to the deeper end of the lake then throws me in. i come to the surface and splash his face.
"hey jerk, don't throw me." i say.
"why?" he says giving me a puppy dog face.
"cause i said so." i swim over to him and he lifts me up.
"put me down" i say while laughing, now the nice breeze turned into a cold breeze.
"haha ok" he slowly sets me back in the water and kisses me again. i pull away and swim away, at first he stands there with a look of shock on his face then he swims after me.
"come here" he says.
"hell no." i say as i swim farther away. he catches up to me.
"hey i still have another present for you" he says. look at him confused.
"didn't you already give me my present?" i say.
"no that was just part of it." he says smiling at me.
"ok well where's the rest of it?" i say.
"well i have 1 question. then a present. then another present at my house" he says.
now im giving him the blank look.
"what's the question" i say. i notice he's getting closer to me. he slowly comes to me then whisper's in my ear. "want to be mine?" i back up a little and look at him.
"yes" i say. he picks me up again. and then sets me down.
"now want one of your other present's?" he asks.
i smile and say yes. we swim to shore then walk to our blanket we have under the tree. he dries off his hand and grabs his back pack out of his truck. he walks to me.
"close your eye's" he says. i do as i'm told. he walks behind me then i feel his hands on the back of my neck."open up" he says and i turn around to see him holding a mirror. i see a necklace shaped as a heart, it says
"if a hug represented how much i love you, I would hold you in my arms forever."
i looked at him and kissed him.
we dry off and pack up the stuff from the picnic. then he opens the truck door on my side so i can get in then he get's in. we start driving.
"Jake, how in the world were we never together before?" i ask.
"because i was to much of a wimp to ask you out." he says. we both laugh then we stop at a store and i grab a water bottle while Jake get's a Nos. i tasted it ans swore i'd never drink another energy drink again. then we headed to his house. by now it's like 6:30 ish. and the sun is slowly setting. the clouds are pink and it make's a beautiful sunset.
