As the lesson droned on, my mind wandered, consumed by thoughts of Kuroo and the growing distance between us. It had been weeks since we last spoke, and the silence between us weighed heavily on my heart.
The sight of him talking with Coach Lia only served to exacerbate my frustration, igniting a simmering anger deep within me. I despised her, with her saccharine smiles and false promises, a constant reminder of the rift that had formed between Kuroo and me.
Beside me, Osamu remained focused on the lesson, diligently taking notes as if oblivious to the turmoil raging within me. But as a wave of overwhelming emotion threatened to consume me, I felt my legs begin to tremble, the weight of my suppressed emotions pressing down upon me like a suffocating blanket.
A heavy breath escaped my lips, and for a fleeting moment, I felt the overwhelming urge to cry, to scream out all the pent-up frustration and despair that had been building inside me. But as I glanced around the classroom, my vision blurred by tears threatening to spill over, I felt a sudden touch on my thigh.
Startled, I pushed Osamu's hand away, the contact feeling intrusive and unwelcome in my moment of vulnerability. I just wanted him, Kuroo, to be here, to understand the turmoil tearing me apart from the inside out.
But as the lesson dragged on, the ache in my heart only deepened, leaving me feeling more alone and lost than ever before. And as I struggled to contain the storm of emotions raging within me, I couldn't help but wonder if there would ever be a way to bridge the chasm that had formed between us.
As I sat alone at the corner table, the weight of my solitude pressing down upon me like a suffocating blanket, I couldn't help but feel a sense of bitterness wash over me. I had sought out this secluded spot in the hopes of escaping the prying eyes and whispered judgments of my classmates, only to find myself once again surrounded by familiar faces.
"Leave me alone," I muttered under my breath, my gaze fixed firmly on the untouched food before me as I absently pushed it around on my plate. I had no desire for company, no interest in engaging in meaningless small talk or forced camaraderie.
But despite my protests, the group showed no signs of backing down. Kimmy, with her unwavering determination, took a seat directly across from me, her gaze steady and unyielding. Beside her, Atsumu and Osamu settled in without hesitation, their presence a silent testament to their refusal to abandon me in my time of need.
"Why would we?" Kimmy's voice cut through the silence, her words laced with a stubborn resolve that left no room for argument. And as I glanced around at the faces of my unexpected companions, a flicker of something akin to gratitude stirred within me, a reminder that even in my darkest moments, I was not alone.
"By the way why were you two late" Atsumu say pointing at me and Osamu.
Atsumu's question hung in the air like a weight, casting a shadow over the table as all eyes turned towards me and Osamu. I glanced at Osamu, silently urging him to come up with a plausible explanation for our tardiness, but instead of the carefully crafted excuse I had hoped for, his response left me speechless.
"We fucked," he declared, his words ringing out with a shocking lack of hesitation.
My jaw dropped in disbelief, my eyes widening in horror as I recoiled from his brazen admission. "No we fucking didn't!" I exclaimed, pushing him away from me with a mixture of embarrassment and frustration. The heat rose to my cheeks as I realized the implications of his words, and I could feel the eyes of our companions boring into me with a mixture of amusement and disbelief.
"We just did this stupid project," I interjected hastily, desperate to salvage what little dignity remained after Osamu's scandalous proclamation.
But Atsumu's response was far from reassuring. "Ah, yeah, like we believe it," he teased, his voice dripping with skepticism as he exchanged knowing looks with Kimmy and Osamu.
