𝗜 𝗛𝗘𝗔𝗥𝗗 𝗡𝗜𝗞𝗞𝗜 𝗘𝗡𝗧𝗘𝗥 𝗧𝗛𝗘 house, as I took a seat on the curb infront of it, blinded by my own tears that slid down my face.

I can't love him.

I won't.

I sloppily lit a cigarette, as I took a long needed drag. A million different thoughts ran through my head as I exhaled the smoke into the cold, dark night. But they were interrupted as I heard the door open behind me, and the sound of quick footsteps approaching me.

Soon enough, I felt a warm hand on my shoulder, I looked up to be met with the eyes of Tom.

He took one look at me, before slowly sitting down next to me, he seemed unsure of what to do.

I wiped my tears, taking another drag of my cigarette, as he looked back over at me.

"Are you okay?" He asked softly, I could feel his eyes burning into the side of my face. I shakily nodded, not daring to look in his direction as my bottom lip quivered. I flicked the cigarette away, stomping on it.

I let out a tiny sob, and almost immediately I felt him arms wrap around me, as he pulled me to his chest.

That was my final straw.

I broke down, sobbing into his chest as I cling to him, balling his shirt up in my hands.

"It's okay...it's okay." He cooed, running his fingers gently through my hair, while his other hand rubbed my back, holding me close.

I buried my face in the crook of his neck, crying harshly. I hated feeling like this. Weak.

"Violet, what happened?" He asked, holding the back of my head as I sobbed, shaking my head.

"Nothing happened." I cried, panting as I did.

"Are you sure?" Tom asked softly, tightening his grip around me. To which I nodded shakily. Tom knew it was something deeper than that, but he remained quiet and comforting.

I sat in his grasp for—I don't even know how long, but long enough. He held me till my cries slowly turned into soft sniffles.

Tom slowly pulled away, looking down at me as he held my forearms.

"Let's go inside, alright?" He said softly, to which I shakily nodded, as he began to stand up, helping me in the process.

Tom held my hand reassuringly, guiding me back into the house.

"It's gonna be okay." He whispered softly as we entered the house, towards the kitchen.

I got a glimpse of Nikki, standing at the kitchen counter, drinking anything consumable.

But once Tom noticed Nikki, he pulled me in the other direction, into the living room. Tom and I sat down on the couch, as he wrapped his arm loosely around my shoulder, while I leaned onto him.

"I'm sorry..." I whispered after a moment, to which he sent me a confused look.

"You have nothing to be sorry for." He said softly, with undertones of firmness in his voice. That eased me a little, as I slowly nodded, leaning my head on his chest, my eyes fluttering shut.

"What the hell happened?" I asked, pulling Nikki away from the party, into an empty room.

Nikki was definitely drunk.

"Nothing, man!" He scoffed, as I locked the door behind me.

"Something obviously happened." I stated, crossing my arms. To which he groaned, rolling his eyes drunkenly.

"Tommy, get your ass out of my business." He spat, his words were barely audible, slurred heavily.

"Nikki, I'm so sick of this shit!" I exclaimed, throwing my hands in the air, to which Nikki sat on the edge of the bed.

"Just admit it." I stated angrily, standing above him.

"Admit what?" He grunted, glaring up at me.

"You know what I'm talking about." I said sternly, not changing my expression, or tone.

"What— I don't fucking love her!" He yelled, pushing past me and head for the door.

"I never said anything about you loving her." I stated quietly, to which he slowly turned around, sending me an unreadable expression, before storming out of the room, slamming the door behind him.

Nikki told me what he wanted to believe. He was more trying to convince himself, than he was me. It was obvious Nikki loved her. Nikki had never been more hung up on a girl, than he was with Violet. I knew Nikki. And I knew that he needed her, but he didn't want to need her.

A really short chapter. I honestly had INSANE writers block for the past couple weeks, so I hate this chapter so much, but it's something. I see Ice Cube next week, so fucking excited.
