Y/n stood at the counter of their convenience store job, slightly rotting away from boredom. Their E/C orbs surveyed the room, taking notice of how especially boring things looked today; when suddenly a blood-curdling gunshot filled the air. Y/N looked around to see where the sound had come from, as it sounded close.
The doorbell rang as someone entered the store. The hairs on Y/ns neck stood erect as they heard the sound of calm, confident footsteps on the smooth concrete floor. The sound grew as the person was very clearly walking towards them. Y/n swallowed a lump in their throat. "This is how I die.." They thought self-pityingly.
Y/n stared blankly at the counter before them, trying to accept their fate.
The mind-numbing sound of the footsteps grew louder and louder until they stopped. Y/n looked up to see a man dressed in a green suit with a top hat. Despite the knot of fear in their chest, Y/n couldn't help but find him attractive.
The man looked at Y/n with a look of contempt.
"Are you Y/n?" He asked, acting disinterested.
Y/n nodded, feeling their blood begin to freeze and their body began to feel limp. "I'm gonna die.." They thought again.
The man nodded as if this confirmed a suspicion of his. He fixed his ice-cold stare on Y/n forcing them to look up at him. "You're gonna have to come with me." He stated, gesturing for Y/n to follow him.
Y/n looked up to him so quickly they nearly put a crick in their neck. "w-what? why..?" They asked without thinking this could end their life then and there.
The man smirked smugly at them before speaking. "You have been sold the the Peony mafia ring by your guardians for protection from Laverna's spies.
Y/ns blood went even colder than before. "W..What?" Y/n blurted out, their heart beginning to race and thaw their frozen blood. "So you're not gonna kill me?"
The man chuckled at Y/n like they made a childish joke. "No. As long as you behave yourself you'll be safe." He said this like a threat, not easing Y/ns fears.
"Now come along, the driver is waiting outside." He said, beginning to walk off in the same confident calculated stride Y/n heard before, only this time with less fear for their death.
Y/n, not knowing what else to do, followed the man out of the store and to a black limo..
