Vanessa's PoV

The sound of my shoes smacking against the cold hard ground filled the hallway. I made my way to the nearest. chair, which just so happened to be at the kitchen table. I looked around, searching the room for dad, before I pulled a book out from my back pack. I set it on the table, examining the cover. It was a book, written by Allan Grant.", one of the survivors from Jurassic Park.

If I'm going to Jurassic World, I might as well do some research. I opened it up, skimming through the chapters, before one caught my eye. 'Velociraptors' I went to the page and started reading.

'Velociraptors are a type of Theropod from the late Cretaceous Period with a very high aggression level. Velociraptor mean Swift Theif. They have a six inch razor sharp claws on each hand, as well as a sickle used to tackle and puncture prey on both feet. My experiences with the velociraptors are far more horrifying than paleontologist could've ever imagined.

They are very high intelligent pack hunters, and have a primitive level of vocalization which allows them to direct attacks or call for help. Believe it or not, they are allowed to set traps. They have a very large brain cavity in their skulls, which is now understanding of how they act. A velociraptors intelligence is equivalent to that of modern primates and are capable of creating advanced strategies and problem solving. A professor that was in Jurassic Park, whom is now thought to be dead, Dr. Sorkin, had noted in her found journal that the velociraptors came out to be three times larger than they should have-"

My reading was seized by a voice.

"Hey Vanessa? Have you seen my book?" Dad came in, looking around. I quickly slid the book under my sweater and have a quick 'nope' he looked around once more before jotting back up the stairs. I sighed as I stood up from reading. I walked over to the kitchen, grabbing a glass and pouring juice into it. I leaned against the counter, taking a giant gulp before I heard a scoff. I slowly turned around to see dad holding my sweater in one hand...and the book in the other.

"Care to explain?" He asked with an eyebrow arched.

"Um...since we are going to the park I wanted to learn more about the dinosaurs?" I mentally slapped myself for making it sound like a question. He nodded.

"Well I'm fine with you learning more, but you should've told me, instead of taking it without my permission. And you shouldn't have lied to me when I asked you." He gave a stern look, making my roll my eyes.

"Don't give me attitude." He said, sending me a glare. I sighed as I turned my head to him, glaring right back. He sighed, rubbing his face.

"You know how I feel about lying. So I'm grounding you." My eyes widened.

"What!? That's so unfair! All I was doing was reading! Your the one always said for me to research and learn about dinosaurs before I went to Jurassic World!" I yelled.

"That's two weeks." He glared at me once more, before walking off back up stairs.

"I..." I held back the urge to curse him off. I groaned as I put my head in my hands. I sighed, calming myself down before let my head fall to the side, starring blankly at the wall. I got up, walking forth to the keys that were hanging on the wall. I clutched the keys like a stair way railing as I made my way to the door. I slowly opened it, he I quickly closed it when I was out.

I walked up the street towards the big mailbox. Kicking a rock, I inserted the key, and with one swift turn, it opened. I grabbed the stack of letters and magazines and shut the mailbox, making my way down to the house. I shuffled through the mail, searching for any letters that might be addressed to me. I sighed, seeing none.

I walked back into my house, noting the sound of silence that filled the area. I brushed it off as I continued through the mail. I examined a peculiar looking envelope.

'American Airlines. Your trip to Coasta Rica leaves in only three days! '

I sighed. Another long three days.
