Vanessa's PoV

"Hope you all have a great summer!" Mrs. Mackenzie said as the bell rang, causing us all to rush out the door. I pulled my iPod out from my back pocket, plugging my headphones in and hitting shuffle as I made my way down the hall to my locker.

'302, 303,..304!'

I quickly entered my combination, popping my lock off and swinging my locker open. I grabbed my backpack and made my way through the sea of people and towards the stairs.

"Where do you think you're going?" I stopped dead in my tracks as Satans voice filled my eardrums. I slowly turned around to see three girls leaning against a wall. One of them turned her head to the billboard where all the posters and club meetings were assigned.

"Hey look, Jurassic World...That's where you belong, after all, it is where the beasts belong." They all laughed as they looked at the Jurassic World advertisement poster. I rolled my eyes as I turned around towards the flight of stairs. I stood still in front of the exit, taking a deep breath before opening the doors to the outside world.

I casually walked down the street to my house. I looked up at the burning sun through the trees as the next song came on. I smiled as my home came into view. No more school, no more homework, and no more bullies. I jogged up the drive way and up to the garage pad, entering the code. I stood back as the door lifted from the ground, revealing my father whom was lying on the ground, with dirt and oil on him as he fixed the broke down car.

"Hey honey, how was school?" He asked, not taking his eyes away from what he was doing.

"Good." I simply replied.

"Wait, before you go in, I need you to get in the front seat and start the engine." He said. I dropped my back pack to the ground and unplugged my head phones as I opened the front door. I climbed in, catching the keys as my dad threw them, before crouching down again. I put the key in and turned it, making it roar like thunder...before it made an odd noise and broke down.

"Damnit!" Dad yelled as he coughed from the smoke.

"Why don't you just call a person that actually knows how to do this?" I asked as I turned to him. He leaned against the door as he starred into my eyes.

"I DO know how to do this. Damn thing keeps crashing on me though." He said, mumbling the last part. I nodded.

"Well I'm gonna go inside now and sleep since there is no more school." I climbed out of the car and made my way inside, and to my room. I threw my iPod on the bed as I sat down. I sighed as I looked around the room, examining every little detail there was. Until my eyes landed on a box. I slowly stood up and made my way to it, bending down to its level. I opened it, seeing all of my memories in the box. I pulled out each item carefully. A sapphire necklace, a journal, and a book. All belonging to my mother. She had died ten years ago. I picked the sapphire necklace up and shoved it into my back pocket.

I had never bothered to open neither the book or letter in fear that I would break from the flooding memories. I sighed once more as I picked the journal up, unwrapping the leather that kept it shut. I opened it, seeing her beautiful cursive handwriting all over the page. I flipped through some page before my eyes landed on a drawing. Below was labeled 'Apatosaurus'. Then memories came flooding in.

"Mommy, what's your favorite dinosaur!" I asked with glee as our family ate dinner.

"My favorite dinosaur is the Apatosaurus. It's is a giant, beautiful creature that has a long neck, kind of like a giraffe. They are very calming and peaceful, which is one of my favorite traits about them." She stated with a giant smile on her face.
