these are some of my own writing tips that I do that have helped me write more efficiently
01. the notes app is your best friend
As a writer planning chapters ahead can really make a difference. I have a different note for all of my books that describes the plot, characters relations to each other (if any) and personality traits. After that I start planning chapter by chapter a summary and key points, this keeps the book from being all over the place and you'll be able to notice any inconsistencies, plot holes or contradictories.
It also helps if you know how you want the book to end so you can create a smooth lead up, climax, and falling action into the ending. Or really however you want the flow of your book to go as it starts and ends.
02. music can change the mood/tone of the chapter
Whether you use Spotify, Pandora, Apple music or Musi, listening to music while writing can set the vibes and tone of a chapter. If you're creating a sad chapter listen to sad music. Making a lovey dovey chapter? Listen to love songs.
Let the music influence you and your writing. On another hand you could create a playlist for your book and add songs that match the tone and overall message of the book. Say your book has a love story plot, add love songs and maybe even some heartbreak songs. Same way if your book has an angst/teen plot, add songs that are on the heavier side like anger, sadness, and has a moody tone.
03. revise and rewrite
Lord. If any of you guys have read some of my other books especially the older ones the plot is...not there and completely full of typos that just makes me want to rip my skin off and it's all because I wouldn't read through my chapters before posting them.
Unless you have the privilege to have a editor that goes through all of your chapters before posting them, you're gonna need some help. (Not sponsored) GRAMMARLYYYYYY I thought the hype was dumb UNTIL I used it. Now, I have a premium subscription because I mainly use Grammarly to edit my papers & essays for school but I also use the free version for my books and it works just as good. Personally I think writing on my phone is easier and then going on my laptop to edit is the best method for me, I have it downloaded to my chrome so it automatically starts showing me where I need to correct words and sentences.
If you don't have a computer/laptop or like editing on one, no worries! Download Grammarly on your phone and the corrections will still show like it does on a computer.
04. do it for the plot
Mannnn just do it for the plot! Add some drama babesss, there's nothing better than reading a book and hitting an insane plot twist or a character does something so out of character your mouth drops. You don't have to go overboard and do it for each character, but just sprinkle it throughout the book a little.
It could be literally anything you want, it's your book, BUT you have to make sure theres a quick solution or it simmers out in at least two chapters from when it originally happened. If you don't there's a chance you can taint your original plot.
