"You look so beautiful, Adeline," my mom says as she looks at me in my midsummer dress. My mom helped me get ready and even fixed my hair a bit. Everything is ready, and all we're waiting for is for my dad to come with the car so we can go together to the place where midsummer is, where we're going to meet up with the Camerons.

My brother comes down the stairs and looks up when he sees me and my mom. "I'm ready."

"That's good, can you go out and help Dad with the last things at the car?" my mom asks, looking proudly at her son, who nods and goes out.

"You'll do great," my mom says then, turning to me with her smile.

"Thank you," I say and smile before going out with my mom to the car. Hopefully, I don't have to be with Rafe once we've gone in together. Maybe I can be with Sarah then.

"Everyone ready?" my dad asks when we get into the car, not waiting for anyone to answer before he continues, "You know who you need to go in with in there. Smile, look happy, and you should look like you're in love with Rafe," my dad says, looking back at me and my brother with seriousness before starting the car.

The thought of having to pretend to be in love with Rafe scares me.

We quickly arrive at the place and meet up with the Camerons as soon as we leave the car. Rafe looks at me before he comes up to me. "If I didn't hate you, I would actually say you look pretty good in that dress," he says.

"I could say the same about you but in your suit," I say and grin at Rafe, who puts his arm around my waist.

Sarah is ready with Topper, and Nathan stands next to Lilly, who keeps giving me disgusting looks. There's something wrong with her. It's very obvious.

"Let's take a picture before we go in," Rose says cheerfully and gathers us all to take some pictures. We take lots of pictures all together. First just the Cameron family and the same with my family, then with just our families, just the kids, just the parents, and finally one together.

"Adeline, Rafe, come on, let me take a picture of you two" my mom says, pushing me and Rafe forward so we stand next to each other.

"Hold each other," Ward says behind my mom, causing Rafe to put his arm around my waist.

"Smile," my dad says. Why does everyone have to be so picky? I fake a smile, and my mom takes the picture. As soon as the picture is done, I leave Rafe behind and go up to Sarah.

"You look so beautiful in that dress," I say and smile as I look at Sarah's cute white dress she's wearing.

"Thank you, you too in your blue one," Sarah says and gives me a hug.

"We're going in now," Ward says, asking us all to get ready. First, our parents will go in, with Ward and my dad at the front. After them, Nathan and Lilly, and then me and Rafe. Last, Sarah and Topper, and I almost feel a bit sorry for Wheezie, who walks behind everyone else. It must be hard to be so much younger than everyone else.

As soon as we get in among the people, the noise level rises. People cheer and clap their hands. They call out to us and smile. Everyone is happy to see us. I notice some glances coming towards me and Rafe. This is supposed to improve our reputations, according to my dad. We'll see if it's true.

Rafe holds onto my waist all the way until we get to the crowd, where he lets go of me and leans in towards me to whisper something. "Remember, we have to play well," Rafe's eyes meet mine for a few seconds when he's done whispering, and I nod. It's true. We have to play well to make our dads proud.
