The day has come when my friends, aka Sarah, Rafe, Nathan, Topper, and Kelce, are going to the mainland to stay in a summer house for a few days. It's a trip that started with Sarah and me planning during a boring class at school, then she wanted to bring Topper, and he wanted to bring the others.
It ended up being all of us. Back then, I thought this trip would be awful because Rafe is coming, but now I'm just excited that he's here.

I'm in my room, packing the last few things before we leave in the big car Sarah borrowed. It'll be nice to get away from everything that's happening right now, but I'm not sure how excited I am about being away and doing a lot of stuff, but I guess it'll be fun.

I close my suitcase and walk along the hallway before heading downstairs where Nathan is already waiting for me. My mom is also there, smiling when she sees me.

"Have fun now, and remember, no alcohol," my mom says, kissing me on the head before kissing Nathan on his forehead, who backs away a bit but still accepts the kiss.

"Goodbye," I say to my mom, who waves at us as we leave the house. I actually feel a bit sorry for her, having to stay home alone for the next few days. Unless Dad comes home, of course. I don't think anyone knows when he'll be back.

The big car Sarah arranged is parked outside our driveway, so we walk to the car, and Nathan opens the door for me. Kelce is behind the wheel, and Topper sits with Sarah in the second row.

I sit in the back with Rafe, who smiles when he sees me. I sit next to him, and he puts his hand on my thigh right away.

"Off we go on the trip," Kelce says cheerfully as he starts the car. It's actually going to be pretty fun to get away for a while, nice to leave OBX for a bit again.

Loud music plays from the car radio while the car windows are rolled down. Everything feels so good at this moment. Just being able to ride around with my friends in the warmth while the wind cools us down just enough. Rafe sitting next to me, squeezing my thigh. If only everything could always be like this, just as it is right now. Without all the problems, though.

"What are you most excited to do?" Sarah asks.

"Party, we need to see what parties are happening on the mainland. They're always the best," Topper says.

"Tanning," I say and smile.

"So boring," Nathan says, which earns him an irritated look from me in return.

"I think it'll be fun just to spend time with my Lovley friends," Kelce says, making the rest of us laugh.

I feel Rafe's hand move farther between my legs, causing me to hold my breath, trying not to react and alert the others. I meet his gaze, and he grins at me with a teasing look. He knows exactly what he's doing, and he loves it.

He goes further down, and eventually, I have to bite my lip to avoid making any noise. He grips my thigh hard, and I try to remove his hand, but he's too strong.

It's like it was meant to be because in the next moment, Kelce turns up the music, and Sarah and Topper start singing loudly, finally allowing me to exhale. Rafe removes his hand and kisses me on the cheek. Before settling back, he whispers in my ear:

"Good girl," making me tense up.

We arrive an hour later, and I had a hard time surviving in there for a while because of how many times Rafe tried to do that. Several times. Many times.

We enter the house we'll be staying in and unpack all our stuff. After a fight between Nathan and me, Rafe and I managed to share a room, and Sarah with Topper. Kelce and Nathan have to share since they're unlucky enough not to have anyone else. Besides each other, of course, but not in that way.

As soon as everything is unpacked and done, I go back outside to join the others, but I quickly realize that no one else is there except Rafe.

"What happened to the others?" I ask as I stand next to Rafe, who is standing on the balcony, looking out over the town in front of us.

"They're getting pizza," he says, wrapping his arm around me.

"Everyone?" I ask with a smile.

"Yeah," says Rafe, smiling. He puts his hands on me and pulls me closer to him. "Such bad luck we didn't get to go," his lips meet mine, and he kisses me slowly.

Rafe starts leading me into the house while kissing me, and suddenly I'm leaning against a wall, his body pressing firmly against mine, his hands on either side of me against the wall.

He breaks the kiss and meets my gaze. "I just want to kiss you forever," I smile at his comment before his lips are on mine again. This time the kiss is more aggressive and wet. He grabs my hair, making me moan loudly as I wasn't prepared for it, and I can feel him smiling through the kiss.

Rafe's hands are on my stomach, moving up along my body. I feel like he's about to take off my shirt when the sound of car doors closing is heard, causing both of us to stop kissing and look out towards the parking lot in front of the house.

The others are coming back in with pizza boxes in hand. Luckily, they didn't see us.

"We'll continue where we left off later, okay?" Rafe says.

I nod before we go out to the balcony where the pizza boxes are ready on the table.

"You guys abandoned us," I say as I sit on one of the chairs. The others look guiltily at us with smiles.

"We thought you could use some alone time," Kelce says, grinning teasingly.

"Not me, though," Nathan says, rolling his eyes.

Rafe sits next to me, and we share a pineapple pizza, and don't hate me for loving pineapple on pizza because I really do. It's just so good.

"Imagine if every evening could be like this," Sarah says.

"Life would be good," I say.

"But soon you four are going to college," Topper says, nodding towards me, Kelce, Nathan, and Rafe. "Although you're starting your second year, how does it feel, Nate?" Sarah is starting her final year of high school, and Topper has chosen not to go to college. He apparently found another job here on the island.

"It's nice that it's closer to the end," he says, laughing.

"I'm not sure if I'm excited about college, though. Even though I want to leave OBX to explore the world more, it also feels empty to leave all this behind. I'm afraid nothing will be the same when I come back," I say and take a bite of my pizza. The others nod.

"I agree with you, Adeline," Kelce says "But we just have to hope we'll still be like this in a year."

"We sure hope so," Rafe says.

"Do you guys know where you're going?" Nathan asks.

"Not yet, but we'll find out soon," I say.

However, I'm not sure if I want to know where I'll end up. I'm afraid it'll be so far away from Rafe that we'll never be able to meet until the summer after, but we'll see.
