I sighed and banged my head on the porch's window. Damn it, college parties were so boring! Riley was having the time of her life, socializing with all those older girls. I guess it ran in the family, attracting people, because Josh was swarmed by them too.
"You know, if you keep doing that, you'll get even more stupid," Lucas said.
"How would you know, oh wait, you probably do this on a daily basis."
"Do what? Stalk the love of my life? Or bang my head on walls? In both case, yes."
"You're hopeless." And so am I.
"Are you thirsty? I'm gonna head inside for a drink."
"Nah. I'll be fine." I turned around and nodded at him as he entered the house. The moon seemed full today, and I smiled. It was just so perfect, so very much you couldn't hate it. And it was far away, yet still beautiful. I guess, some things are meant to only be admired from afar. How nice would it be, to be faraway yet still loved.
"Beautiful, isn't it?" a voice said that I knew so well. Josh. "Almost as much as you." I blushed and felt irritated. Why can't I control my feelings?!
"Don't mock me," I whispered into the night.
"But I'm not joking." His voice was a bit hazy, and I paused.
"Where are you?"
"Come here." I took a deep breath and thought to myself, I won't, even if he begs me to.
"C'mon! I'm not that drunk!" Drunk? I instantly felt worried. Should I call Riley out? Screw it.
I began to climb the porch, heart racing faster than ever, maybe it was just the anticipation for seeing Josh drunk, or the fear of falling. I finally reached the roof and hopped up.
I did not expect him making out with a girl. I did not expect them to be half naked. I also did not expect to be caught.
"Maya?" he said, but slow and sounded it like "bye ya".
"Oh, whoops! Looks like I interrupted something!" I smiled as I hopped off the roof and onto the ground. A sharp pain lingered on my left foot. Damn, probably sprained.
I attempted to run as far away as I could with my injured ankle and found myself lost in a greenhouse.
"Shoot! Where the hell am I?"
"Maya?" Riley's voiced echoed.
"Riley? Where are you?"
"Near the roses!"
"I can't, my foot hurts!" Two hands touched my arm, one with a ring on the thumb. Riley.
"Are you okay?" she said with a wobbly voice.
"Were you crying?"
"Yeah. I saw Missy and Kyle kissing."
"I called it." A suffocating silence followed. "Sorry.
