Back in Reme Helus and Haden had woken up in their cells but Moralius woke up to the sound of a metal object being slammed against the bars. Today they would be exiled.
Their doors were opened by the guards, and the three we're given cloth cloaks.
These cheap cloaks we're given to all of the exiles. They were escorted to the boat by guards along with about four others. The ship was a completely unremarkable one by all means. It was an old wooden boat with a large white sail on it, and a few lanterns on the sides. Helus, Moralius, and Haden were taken to the boat, along with four others.
Helus started praying again as the ship set sail, Haden was taking one last look at the city, Moralius was just sitting still, trying to think of a way to get out if this
Then hours later, the boat stopped, They had arrived. The guards approached them, and took them to the edge of the ship. They used an old dagger to cut the rope on their hands, and pushed them into the shallow water where they swam to the shore.when they got there one of the guards threw the small dagger to them it flew through the air and landed in the black gravel at haden's feet, He picked it up. The beach they were on was very dangerous. with loud crashing waves on the shore, the ground is covered in black gravel, about a cm across. The whole west coast region, the region they were exiled to is a labyrinth of dark cliffs and tunnels, with sparse plants, and thick fog filling the whole area. But the low visibility is the least of their worries, if you trip and fall, yell, or even sneeze it will be enough to alert the Greater Beasts that dwell in the vast caverns under the island. They are a hivemind of large and tough spiders with a deadly venom. when they attack, they flood out of every entrance, like an ant bed.
"Shh we have to be very quiet. Haden, you keep the knife, you'll need it."Helus said.
"I've read about this place, if we make any loud noises
the beasts will come from the ground and kill us"Helus continued.
"Why does he get the knife?"one of the other prisoners asked.
"Because haden is extremely quick and agile, He knows how to use it" Moralius said.
"Follow me, and be Very quiet,"Helus said.
Helus started walking away, Haden, and Moralius followed but the others were hesitant.
"What? you going to stand there waiting for whatever unholy beasts to come out?"
Moralius said to the other four prisoners. One walked forward, and was soon followed by the other three.Moralius caught up to Helus and haden
"So, do we have a plan or are we just wandering through this place?"Moralius said.
"If the old maps still apply, then we just need to go a mile inland and we will be out of this damn place." Helus said as the group was walking through the fog.
They could only see a few feet ahead, because of the thick fog every step willed with anxiety, and the sound of crunching gravel. The seven of them have been walking for about twenty minutes by now, passing rotting bodies every once in a while.
Suddenly one of the other prisoners tripped and fell on a corpse and started screaming, Moralius ran over and quickly covered his mouth to silence him. Everyone else froze as the ground started rumbling, and small stones fell from the cliffs high above.
Helus heard something approaching from behind them fast
Moralius let go of the other prisoner and looked to the approaching beast.
it was louder now and they could almost see it.
Helus yelled "Run!" and that was enough to get everyone to run.
Haden quickly got to the front followed by Helus, then two prisoners, Moralius, and two more in the back. They ran, dodging spiders the whole time. a small one jumped onto the prisoner in front of Moralius, and knocked him down. In that split second Moralius had to make an important decision.Save this guy, or keep running.
Moralius chose to save him, he stopped and kicked the spider off of him as hard as he could, and it split in half spraying a yellowish goo all over his leg, the other prisoner. Moralius leaned over and held out his hand
"Come on, we need to catch up!" he yelled. Magnus, the prisoner, grabbed Moralius's hand and pulled Magnus up. The spiders were right behind them, The prisoner behind them was being torn apart . They had some time to run. Luckily all of this took place in a few seconds, so the group wasn't far ahead. The Fog was already getting less thick, suddenly another spider pounced on haden. he was knocked to the ground with it on top of him, pinning him on his back. Haden had his left arm holding it away, so it couldn't bite him. The dagger was on the ground next to him, but just out of reach. The others had already run past him. He pushed the creature over to his right, towards the dagger now he could reach it. The spider's sharp legs were cutting his arms, and face.Haden reached over to the dagger and grabbed it, he raised it, and killed the creature.Haden got up, and turned around. It was Moralius, the friend he thought was dead.He got up, and kept running. Helus was in the front, Haden was catching up. Moralius and Magnus we're being chased by a bigger one. There was barely any fog or spiders anymore, and the cliffs were getting more distance between them. Moralius looked back and saw the massive greenish Eight foot tall spider-like Beast behind him, covered in spikes. It was slowing down, Moralius knew they had been Sprinting at full speed for nearly ten minutes, but surely that won't tire such a creature out.
Moralius pushed those thoughts out of his mind, and kept running. Magnus wasn't thinking about much aside from running. After all Magnus is an arachnophobe, and there is an eight foot tall spider chasing him. Suddenly the spider stopped. and screeched Moralius looked back, it was shaking, and shrieking, trying to get back to the safety of the fog, but it was too late for it. Its eyes, and skin we're absorbing the sunlight. Its cells immediately start dying. Its eyes, and brain were not meant to be in the holy light of the sun. its brain receives the light and freaks out, the effect is similar to an electric shock. That is why it was shaking so much.
While Moralius was watching the creature,Magnus was still running, he didn't care how dead the creature was, he just wanted to get out of there. Helus and Haden stopped, they looked back to the now dead spider, Moralius slowly walking back.
All four of them were exhausted now that they were safe, after all that running all they wanted to do was sit down, and rest.
