8th May 2019:
"You need to start driving yourself." Paul laughs as he drives into Caroline's street. "Paul, I'm only fifteen." The girl shakes her head. "I was driving at that age." The Ritter man sighs. "Well, that's illegal, Paul. Give me two more years and I'll be driving like a mad woman." The brunette smiles at him. "Maybe don't drive like a mad woman, none of us want that." Paul laughs.
"That's weird," Caroline mumbles as she drives past her boyfriend's house to see his bedroom light off. "What's weird?" The older man asks. "Ollie's lights off, it's always on. At least at this time it always is." Caroline looks down at her watch which reads half eleven at night. "Maybe he got an early sleep?" The girl's costar suggested. "Yeah, maybe." She says spinning to look at Paul as he parks outside of her house.
"Thank you for picking me up, Paul. And dropping me back." Caroline leans over the middle console to wrap her arms around the man. "No don't worry about it, it's really no problem, at all. I love spending this time with my favourite co-star." The actor smiles. "Don't let Tamsin, Tom or Simon hear you say that." Caroline sighs, picking her bag up from the floor. "Go and get some sleep, I'll see you again in a couple of days." Paul smiles.
"See you then Paul." Caroline waves as she gets out of the car and makes her way to her front door. She waves again when she sees Paul drive past and watches him drive up the street. Her eyes wander over to Oliver's bedroom window, thoughts running through her head. It's really weird for his light to be off. She pulls her phone out of her pocket with a smile, expecting to see a message from her boyfriend. Her smile drops when she doesn't get one.
Now that was really weird, he always sent her a message at this time. He knew it was when she got back home, he'd even wave at her sometimes when he saw her drive past. "What are you doing still standing out here?" Her brother asks as he opens the front door. "Fucking hell, don't do that Joe." She scoffs, pushing him away as she walks into the house. "No but what's wrong?" Joe seriously asks.
"Oliver's bedroom light is off." She tells him, making the older boy stare at her like she was stupid. "Yeah maybe because it's half eleven at night, and he's fast asleep?" Joe laughs, walking to the kitchen. "No, it's weird. He goes to bed at twelve on the nights that I have filming. His light stays on until twelve. And I haven't got my message from him yet. I always get one at half eleven on the dot, and I haven't got it yet." She rambles.
She spins her phone around showing her brother her texts with Oliver, proving that no message has come through. Joe's eyes scan across the previous messages from earlier that day as he raises an eyebrow. "What?" Caroline looks at her phone. "He called you Caroline." The man says. "What?" Caroline gasps, looking at her messages. She obviously was busy on set earlier and didn't notice. Only now she knows something is wrong and she feels her heart break a bit.
"He never calls me my actual name. It's always Care or Cece." The brunette frowns, keeping her eye on the message. 'I'm sorry Caroline' it said. Only when she saw this she laughed at it, because he made a joke about the girl and he was apologising, only now the girl felt like the message had a whole different meaning. "Hey, don't think too much about it." Joe pries the phone from his sister's hand and turns it off.
"Much easier said than done, Joe." Caroline glares at him as she snatches her phone back. "It's getting late, you should get to sleep," Joe tells her as he walks to the fridge with two glasses in his hands and fills them with water from the dispenser. "I don't think I'll be getting any sleep," Caroline confesses. "You don't think it's too late to go to his house do you?" The girl asks her brother.
"I do think it is late, David, Terri and the kids would be fast asleep by now." The actor shrugs, handing his sister one of the glasses. "Maybe message him, you haven't done that yet." Joe laughs. "Oh yeah." Caroline trails off, pulling her phone back out of her pocket as she walks upstairs. "And you're supposed to be the smart one." Joe scoffs, as he walks behind Caroline. "Anyways good night, I'm tired." Joe places a kiss on the girl's head before he walks into his room.
Caroline walks into her room and smiles at all of the pictures on her wall, of her and Ollie. There were some from when they were younger when they were just friends. And loads from when they've been dating. There were also little handwritten notes and love letters hung up as well. All were written by Ollie himself.
Placing the glass of water on her nightstand she quickly gets changed into her pyjamas, before rushing to her window. She takes one last look at her boyfriend's bedroom before sitting in bed and going back to their messages. 'Hey Bear' she sends but frowns straight away when the message turns red with an exclamation mark next to it, telling her it didn't deliver. "What." She takes a deep breath before sending loads more, but none of them go through either.
She wipes her eyes quickly when she feels tears building up. Had he blocked her? He couldn't have. They were literally with each other earlier. They were perfectly fine. She grabs her water and downs the whole thing as she feels her throat getting dry. She takes one look at her wall but squints her eyes when she sees a letter on her wall that wasn't there when she left earlier. She pushes herself onto her knees and leans towards the letter and pries it off the wall. She sits back down scanning the letter, her eyes watering straight away.
To Cece, Care, my girl...
Please don't be mad, at me or yourself. I just... I can't stand the thought of you hating me, I really can't. But I know you're going to hate me either way.
And I know I promised you, I would never break your heart, but I'm sorry. I really am, I'm just I can't be in a relationship. I need to grow as an individual person and make sure my life is on the right track. And to do that I need to be alone, and focus on my karting if I ever have a chance at getting into Formula One.
Just know I will always hold love for you, I always have and always will. I will always love you, I hope you'll still love me too. Just please be patient with me, this doesn't need to be the end.
I really wish we were part of that 2%, I knew you were taking that chance as well.
This isn't goodbye, this is simply see you later.
- Your Bear Man x
"What's wrong?" Joe rushes into his sister's room when he hears her sobbing. "He broke up with me." Caroline gasps, handing Joe the letter. "Caroline." The older brother sighs, wrapping his arms around the brunette. "I can't breathe." She scratches at her neck, before moving away from Joe and taking her jumper off. She walks to her window and slides it open, trying to get some fresh air.
"Look at me, breathe Caroline." Joe grabs his sister's hand making her turn to him. "Follow my breathing." He tells her, and he takes a deep breath in and then releases it, he does it a few more times until his little sister can breathe properly on her own. "What did I do?" She asks as she still cries. "You did nothing, Caroline." Joe brings her in for another hug. "I obviously did." She huffs.
"Come on, you're coming in my room and we can watch Teen Wolf." The man says, grabbing the girl's pillow, duvet, and teddy. "I'll be fine on my own." Caroline stares at him. "No, you won't, you're staying in my room. No questions asked." He says, opening her door. "Okay." She wipes her eyes, shutting her window, not looking at Oliver's window, knowing she'd cry again.
Only if she did look at the window, she'd see Oliver looking out his, wiping his own eyes. "He didn't deserve you, Caroline." Joe throws his arm around her as he shuts her door behind them and they walk to his room. "All the songs I wrote about him, they mean nothing now," Caroline whispers. "You can write more," Joe suggests, opening his door. "What about my heartbreak?" The girl scoffs. "Yeah." Joe nods. Maybe that wasn't a bad idea.
