16th May 2019:
"Paul, did you know Ollie broke up with me?" Caroline asks her co-star. "No, I didn't, why? You guys were perfect." The man gasps. "So he can focus on his racing career." Caroline scoffed. "Like could he not do that while dating me? He practically just broke my heart for no reason." The teenager sighs. "Hey, Caroline." Paul takes the girl's hand in his when they get to a red light. "Yes." She turns to him. "Don't let him get you like this. At the end of the day, it's his loss." He smiles, before putting his hand back on the wheel and drives again when the light goes green.
"Yeah, but I thought he was the one. I was going to marry that boy, Paul, and it all just crumbled due to a letter he wrote breaking up with me. He couldn't even do it in person the pussy." Caroline shakes her head. "What did you do about it? How long has it been since he broke up with you?" The older man wonders. "He broke up with me on his birthday. Eight days ago." Caroline tells him. "And what have you done since then?" Paul gets into the motorway.
"I've sat in my room, cried a tonne... and I mean a tonne. And I may have written some songs." The teenager shrugs. "How many songs?" Paul raises an eyebrow. "I've written four," Caroline reveals. "Four songs in eight days? Jesus, that's two days each to write them songs." Paul gasps. "Yeah, well heartbreak gives me lots of writing material, do you want to hear one of them?" Caroline turns to him.
"Go on, we still have a bit of time until we are at set." Paul nods. "I brought my ukulele, I knew my guitar wouldn't fit in the car." Caroline smiles as she gets the instrument from her bag. "Okay which one do you want to hear, see you later, Fade Away, Crickets or Fumbled the Bag?" She lists the song. "I want to hear, See you later." Paul smiles, already knowing this is going to be amazing. "Good, because that was the one I was going to play for you." Caroline smiles before getting the chords ready.
"It's funny 'cause I've always dreamed of me and you now here we are. Staring at the stars. You just broke my heart, even though you promised you'd never do that from the start.
But I guess we can only make it so far
'Cause time wasn't in our favour. This isn't goodbye, this is simply see you later." Caroline sings the first verse. "What do you think?" The girl looks at the man to see him with a smile on his face. "I think I need to hear the whole thing." He shrugs."Okay, then." Caroline nods, getting the chord ready and plays Paul the rest of the song. "Now what did you think of it?" Caroline raises an eyebrow. "I think it's amazing, when are you releasing it?" The actor wonders. "You're funny, none of my songs are released. What makes you think I'm going to release this?" The teenager laughs. "I mean, you should. You are what some would say a lyrical genius." Paul tells the girl.
"Don't Paul, don't lie to make me feel better." Caroline shakes her head. "I'm hurt that you think I'm lying to you. I'm being honest, you have an amazing voice and a lot of people might relate to your music. I know that's why a lot of people make it, to make sure that their fans don't feel like they are alone or are the only ones who feel the way they do. Release it, and it will also make Oliver regret ever making you feel like that." The man raises an eyebrow.
"Paul, we don't say his name. He's the new Voldemort. He who shall not be named." Caroline shrugs. "Wait so that song is telling he who shall not be named, that you'll wait for him until he's ready to come back to you?" Paul analyses the song. "Yeah, practically." Caroline nods. "How do you even know he wants you back," Paul mentions. "Because I'm delusional, Paul. He said I'm the person he is going to marry. He said no other girl is going to make him change his mind about me." Caroline frowns.
"Yeah well if he gets with anyone else trust me, I will need a shovel because he will be buried alive," Paul smirks. "Paul! That's still the love of my life." The teenager reminds him. "Oh well, for you young lady I would assassinate anyone." The Ritter man shrugs. "Erm, I don't think that's something you should admit out loud. Because now if you do do that... ha dodo. Anyway, I'll now be an accomplice." Caroline shakes her head.
"Yeah, that's true. Has anyone told you that you are really childish?" Paul asks. "All the time, but it's so I still feel little. I don't like growing up." Caroline tells him as she puts the ukulele back in her bag. "What's the song fade away?" Paul asks about the other song. "Well, it's just about he who shall not be named fading away and letting me fade away from him at the same time... kind of like a ghost." Caroline bites at her lip.
"There's a verse in there as well. When I went back to school I had to break it to our friends. They all said he who shall not be named didn't deserve me, but of course, because I still love him I defended him. Then it made me wonder if was I even good enough for him. Was I enough? Then I was quite angry and was being petty saying watch me take back all the love he doesn't deserve." Caroline continues to explain.
"Wait... did you seriously think that you weren't enough for him?" Paul gasps. "Yeah. I mean if I was enough he'd still be with me, wouldn't he? But he isn't, so obviously I wasn't enough." The Thomas girl frowns. "Hey don't do that... you are everything someone would look for in a relationship. And from what I could tell, you were everything to him." Paul says. "Woah, you're really defending the person you just said you'd bury?" Caroline's mouth drops open.
"Hey, he's a good kid. Just he made a stupid choice, and the way he went around it... he could've done it so much better." The man nods. "Yeah like be a man and do it to my face." Caroline leans her head on the headrest closing her eyes. "So true. Go to sleep we still have a little bit of time until we get to set." Paul looks at the girl. "Thank you for being a free therapist, Paul," Caroline smirks. "I'm here anytime you want to talk." He looks back at the road. "I'm holding you to that." The teenager whispers.
