"Viruses are obligate intracellular parasites, composed of nuclieic acids like DNA and RNA surrounded by a protein capsid, but sometimes...they're also surrounded by an envelope derived from host cell membranes....", the physiology professor kept explaining the define of viruses. In which, I hardly had any focus.
I was gawking at Ishaan through the whole lecture, who seemed to be fully concentrated on the intracellular parasites. Is he really going to ace the mid-terms or what?
I thought for various reasons that could be answerable for the 'break-up'. I found none though.
It felt like I was making a hypothesis for an impossible-yet-silly observation. was he bored? Fed up? Irritated?...maybe.
'Or found someone better.', Ritika had alleged yesterday. It was around that, where my mind kept revolving. It could be the reason, couldn't it? Wasn't he running away from the whole thing?
Now, it seemed like he wanted to get rid of me as soon as possible.

"This pasta is worse than my aunt's curry....", Shravan repelled at the canteen's white sauce pasta, which tasted more like an uncooked thick slurry of maida and milk.
"I escalate it, Raamu kaka is finally trying to make something else apart from the sandwiches and French-fries.", said Riya.
We were at the canteen for lunch, and also to discuss about the upcoming trip after midterms.
"everyone is coming right?", asked Shlok.
"yeah, I'm in...", said Shravan. Followed by Riya and Ishaan.
" And what about you two?", Riya asked looking towards Ritika and me.
"what do you say?", I whispered to Ritika.
"I think Radisson resort would be smashingly great.", she delighted.
"okay, count us in then...", I said.
"Is Ayesha coming?", I heard Riya whisper to Ishaan.
"of course.", he replied with a grin.
Ritika looked at me. It seemed like she heard that as well. I shrugged my shoulders, indicating her that I knew nothing about what she's about to ask.
Once the boys went to register our names for the trip, it was only me, Ritika and Riya at the canteen.
"Who's Ayesha?", Ritika asked Riya, and I prayed to god for her to say anything but the one that was revolving in my mind, someone better.
"umm...she...", Riya looked at me reluctantly—making me assume her further words already—and continued, "she is...Ishaan's girlfriend."
Seems like god had turned a deaf ear towards my prayers.
"what? When did this happen?", Ritika asked further on my behalf, knowing that I won't be able to do so. despite expecting this coming, I was still knocked for six.
"today morning, before you guys came. Everyone knows.", she said timidly, and stood up to leave after giving me a pitiful smile. Of course, I did hate that.
"so?", Ritika turned towards me once Riya left.
"Shlok was right, he is an asshole for sure.", I alleged.
"should we cancel our names from the trip registration?", she asked fretfully.
"why?"
"will you be okay seeing both of them together?"
"I'll try to be...I mean, why spoil our first trip together because of him? we'll surely go"
"you sure?"
"do you doubt me?", I asked mockingly.
"god forbid, I don't have the courage to do that", she chuckled.
