THAT NIGHT

Chapter 14

Yasmine was sitting in the cafe near the window waiting for Marwan, she put her hand on her cheek and looked out the window at the busy street
"I didn't lose my necklace in the end but what if Maya didn't find it... don't think about these things now"
she said to herself.

Marwan got out of his car in front of the cafe and saw Yasmine looking at the street he became nervous and didn't go inside he just stood there and kept looking at her
"Why don't I want to go in there? Finally, I can talk to my sister after all this time, but she doesn't know me. I want to go and hug her and tell her everything, but I can't do it this way" he said to himself.

Yasmine noticed him and smiled as she waved, Marwan smiled back and entered the cafe Yasmine stood up when he reached her table
"Hi Marwan," she said with a big smile on her face
"Hi Yasmine, why do you stand up? Sit down" Both of them sat at the table.

They were drinking coffee and none of them were talking. Marwan was rubbing his neck and looking out the window, he was trying his best to avoid eye contact with Yasmine and Yasmine noticed.

"Is everything okay Marwan?"
"Yes everything is okay"
he took the necklace out of his pocket and looked at it before handing it to Yasmine
"Thank you," Yasmine said.

She opened it and grinned, her eyes were sparkling while looking at it. she closed it and put the necklace in her bag
"It's very important to you, right?" Marwan said
"Yes, It's the memory of my real family,"
she said while playing with her cup. Marwan took a sip of his coffee
"Can I ask you about your real family?"

"Yes sure but I don't know a lot about them"
"So... what do you know about them?"
she looked out the window thinking
"Not much I know that they're from Egypt and we came here because of my father's work but they died in a car accident when I was two I spent one year in an orphanage before Austin family adopted me"
"Sorry about your loss"
"Thank you Marwan" she smiled.

"She was two, this is only a story, does her current family lie? Why?" he said to himself.
"What's your parents' name? don't answer if you don't want to"
"No, it's not a secret or something... my mother's name was Jumana and my father's name was Hussam"

Marwan put his hand on his cheek
"And I think you don't have any siblings"
Yasmine shook her head
"No, I don't have siblings but it would be great, I always wanted to have an older brother"
A smile spread across Marwan's face
"You have an older brother Yasmine he's in front of you," he said to himself.

Yasmine looked at the sky
"It's cloudy maybe it's going to rain, I have to go I have a quiz tomorrow"
"I'm sorry if I take a lot of your time" "No It's okay my necklace is very important to me, I'm thankful to you and Maya"
"You're welcome"
"I'll drive you home if you don't mind"
"No thank you, I prefer using a bus"

"Did you see that man around lately?"
Marwan had a worried expression on his face
"No, I haven't seen him lately"
"I'm happy to hear that"
Yasmine smiled
"Thank you very much, Marwan."

They came out of the cafe
"Thank you for everything Marwan hope you have a great day"
"Thank you, you too"
Marwan watched her as she walked away
"How am I supposed to tell you that? I'm your brother and your parents have been killed. How are you going to accept that?" he asked himself.

At night, Yasmine was sitting at her desk studying. She began rubbing her cheek with the back of the pen.

"I want to visit Maya to check on her and thank her as well... but how?"
She thought for a moment
"Yes I'm going to ask Marwan I'll call him after I'm done"
She nodded "Cool."

She called Marwan at 10 pm. He picked up the phone
"Hi Yasmine"
"Hi Marwan I'm sorry if I bother you but I have a question"
she said as she walked down the stairs and went to the kitchen
"Yeah sure ask"

She opened the refrigerator and took a bottle of orange juice out from the refrigerator
"I want to visit Maya, is that possible?" "Why do you want to visit her?"
"To check on her and thank her,"
she said as she poured herself a glass of juice.

"Hmmm I don't know what to say"
"I can't visit her" "No it's not like that" "What's the problem then?"
she took a sip of the juice
"I don't want you to encounter your parents killer," Marwan said to himself
"Why you don't answer me? is everything okay?"
"Yes everything is okay but... okay I'm going to tell Maya and call you back"
"Thank you I'll wait for your call"
They talked for more than five minutes then they hung up.

Marwan lay down on the couch and took a deep breath
"That's not good"
"What's wrong Zayn?"
Samuel came with two cups of coffee in his hands Zayn sat up and Samuel sat beside him, he gave him the coffee
"Thank you for coming over Samuel I needed someone to talk with"
"Don't say that man we're a friend and you helped me with a lot of things... you were talking with your sister, right?"
"Yes, she wants to visit Maya"
"Okay but why are you worried?"

"I don't want her to encounter Lincoln"
he took a sip of the coffee
"I don't see any problem in that they don't know each other"
"That's right but still"
"Do whatever you want? tell her she can't see anyone"
"But she may ask Maya later on and this will get me into trouble"
"You're overthinking Zayn"
Zayn rubbed his face
"I don't what to do. there's a lot of things going on, and I don't know how to tell her. Listen Yasmine I'm your brother and that man over there killed our parents and took our money and wealth. I can guess how she will react"

"That's going to be tough but you're going to find a way I'm sure but now you should be happy that you found your sister"
Zayn smiled
"You're right Samuel thank you"
"Go with your sister to Lincoln's house you can watch her and be reassured"
Zayn furrowed his eyebrows thinking
"Great idea I'll go with her."

The next day, Marwan drove Yasmine to Linclon's palace. he stopped in front of the gates until they opened it for them and he drove in. Yasmine was amazed by the palace, the palace was white, the roof was light blue and it contained two floors. There are two beautiful gardens on each side as you enter the gates.

"Wow very big and beautiful Mashallah"
Marwan looked at her with his eyes full of sadness
"You lived in a place like this Yasmine but they took it from us," he said to himself. Yasmine looked at him
"Is there a problem Marwan?"
"No nothing."

They got out of the car and a bodyguard took the car key from Marwan to take his car to the garage. Yasmine was looking around amazed by this big palace
"Come on Yasmine let's go in"
She smiled and nodded.

They entered the house after the maid opened the door for them, the palace was big and beautiful inside
"Is Maya in her room?" Marwan asked
"Yes she's in her room," The maid said
"Can you lead Yasmine to her room please" "Yes sure."

Maya's and Mason's mother and Mason walked down the stairs
"Oh welcome Marwan," Mason said,
"Thank you, Mason, how are you lady Grace?" Marwan asked
"Thank you, Marwan"
"Hi," Yasmine said
"Hi you're Maya's friend thank you for your visit," Grace said
"Of course, she's my classmate and a friend."

Mason was looking at her without saying anything Yasmine looked at him two and furrowed her eyebrows a little while smiling
"Hi Mason" "Hi"
Then Yasmine looked at the maid
"Let me lead you to Lady Maya's room"
"Okay," Yasmine looked at them and nodded then she left with the maid.

Mason kept looking at her until she disappeared, Marwan didn't like the way Mason looked at Yasmine
"What's in your head, Mason?" Marwan asked himself.
