She exited the bus and walked up the long driveway to her house. She lived on a farm. Her family had two fields, a big barn, two garages, a couple of sheds, and a huge forest surrounding them. They had chickens, cows, and horses. There were trails connecting everything. The driveway was at the bottom middle of the property.

She was almost to the end of her driveway when a UTV pulled up beside her coming from her house. A tall woman with brown hair and brown eyes stepped out. "Hey", Ruth said," How long were you out here?" Luna chuckled "Five minutes, not that long. I was planning on doing my chores and then hitting up the forest.

"Ok, don't slack off or you're taking Capri's jobs."

"I won't slack, I will be back at 8:00."

"7:30"

"OK, be back soon"

Ruth threw Luna the keys and said "Drop me off at the house. Make sure to do your chores well." Ruth was practically a mom to Dee and Luna. They don't know what happened to their mom. The police thought she died so that's what they assume, but Luna knew she was alive but just didn't know where she was. They drove to the house's porch. Ruth opened the door and walked up to the porch. She turned around and smiled.

"Now you can go to the woods."

"Wait, I can skip chores?!"

"Yes, now go before I change my mind"

"Thank you! I'll do twice the work tomorrow! I promise!"

Luna ran to the UTV, jumped in, and drove all the way to the forest. She saw Trevor and Capri working in the fields as she drove by. She had a little bit of time left before she got to the woods so she decided to call the dog.

She slowed down the UTV to look for Laika, her Treeing Walker. She found Laika with Dee. Laika had just killed a raccoon trying to get to their crayfish. "Wow", Dee said, "you did your chores fast." Luna called Laika to the UTV and then said," No Ruth gave me a free pass." Before Dee said anything she sped off to the woods with Laika in the passenger seat.
