My girl, she used to have such starry eyes
Bright blonde curls that shone like the sunrise
Her heart was a big as the ocean
Her kind words never once went unspoken
My girl, she always leaves me amazed
Please let me see every tear behind her gaze
How could she ever not be okay?
Trust me, you would know it. Her smile would sway.
My girl, thunder lies in her beautiful mind
It yearns to crack and let them see the storm confined.
She knows she can't let that happen
She remembers what they did the last time she snapped
My girl, please tell me why you're insecure
You have such gorgeous eyes and skin so pure
They don't know she just wants to be skinny
That's what she thinks it means to be pretty
My girl, what's going on inside your head?
I see the red and it fills me with dread
You are so very beautiful and kind
Who put such sad thoughts in your mind?
My girl, you hide everything so well
No wonder nobody can ever tell
When you finally break and let them really see you
They never really believe you.
