Sash & Fides above^
(Ravine POV)
Junior Year...
"What?! What do you mean you are not going to be able to make it to the rehearsal?" I gasped on the phone.
"Vinny, I can't. Our filming hours got extended. I have no control over this. I can't leave right now. There are still scenes to shoot." Sash replied.
"But you are like the lead for this theater production and it's our final rehearsal before the actual presentation tomorrow. You have to find a way to make it somehow." I said.
"Vinny, I promise you I can perform for tomorrow's play. I don't need any more practice. In the meantime, just find a sub for a while so you guys can rehearse it without me." He ordered.
"But Sash..."
"Vinny, I have to go now. Cheyenne is getting impatient. I'll see you later." He said before hanging up.
That director bitch!
"Vinny, is Sash going to make it?" J.T. asked me.
"No, he's still filming for his web series. He should have at least one more rehearsal before the actual play so it will run smoothly on the day itself." I pouted.
"It's okay. Don't worry too much. Who knows? Anything can happen. It's Sash and he's a great actor. I have no doubt that he can knock it out of the park. There's a reason why he was chosen by the casting director." J.T. said, trying to placate me.
"I just don't want him to burn himself out, you know. Plus, he's been spending majority of his time with that Fides girl." I sneered.
"Who's Fides?" J.T. asked.
"His leading lady." I replied.
"Just calm down, don't let your paranoia cloud your reasoning. In the meantime, let's just preoccupy ourselves with the rehearsal and let's make sure everybody knows what to do tomorrow." J.T. said before ushering me inside the auditorium to run the play one last time.
I am starting to regret my decision of pushing Sash onto that path. It's only going to get worse, especially if he becomes an in-demand actor.
The day of the theater play...
"We'll all leave, Jeanette! If you want to know our plan, that's our plan. We want to have a life too. We don't want to spend the rest of our lives here taking care of a miserable and an ungrateful old bat." Sash said as he was portraying the character of Rayan in the play.
Basically, the play that we came up with for our theater production was inspired by "August: Osage County", a play by Tracy Letts, which tackles a tumultuous family relationship. We didn't copy the entire play itself, of course. We added our own twists and spin on it and our script is entirely different.
"What are we going to do? We are going to leave her here. Who's going to look after her?"
"That's not my problem."
"Yes, it is. She's our mother for God's sake, Rayan!"
"She's a grown-up now, she can take care of herself. Nobody can blame me for quitting on her. All my life, I had been dealing with her erratic behavior but now that I am an adult and I am free to make my own decisions, I have every right to say that I am going to abandon her and nobody can judge me for it, not even God, if there is a God." Rayan said in the play and Sash delivered it like a pro. He truly is born to be an actor.
After the end of the play, the lights dimmed and everybody gave a boisterous applause. It's over finally. Such a relief but a little bit sad as well because for sure, I was going to miss the early morning and late night rehearsals.
A little while later...
"I told you there's no need for me to practice anymore." Sash bragged about his performance earlier.
"Don't gloat too much, Mr. Smart-ass!" I giggled. "Anyway, what time shall we have dinner tomorrow?"
"Tomorrow?" Sash asked with a confused tone.
"You promised that you would take me out for a date after the play, remember?" I said.
"Oh shoot! I forgot to tell you. I am so sorry." Sash apologized.
"What for?"
"Fides asked me if we could go for a coffee date tomorrow and I said yes already." Sash said.
"Then tell her that you're going on a date with your boyfriend." I said, with a slight impatience.
"How about I take you out tomorrow night so Fides and I could go for a coffee in the morning? It'll be embarrassing for me to cancel it because I already obliged." Sash defended.
"Is it part of your job to go on a date with her?" I asked.
"What's wrong with you, Ravine? She's a friend. Surely there isn't anything wrong with going on a date with a friend, right?" Sash raised a brow.
"Alright, fine! Do what you have to do." I said in defeat before going to the bathroom to take a shower already.
We just finished theater production and I am already tired and exhausted enough as it is that I am not willing to engage in a fight with him. No way! I am going to relax for tonight because I deserve it after writing that long-ass script for our theater prod.
