The sounds of the waves crashing reminded me of the time Frances and I shared on the beach before the war. That was our last carefree moment together before everything was irrevocably changed. We were no longer those kids who sat side by side on the beach listening to the sounds of nature's comfort.
I honestly didn't even believe we were the same people who made the long journey through the woods. I wasn't sure who I was or who Frances was anymore but, I did know I loved him.
Thursday June 10th 1802
The boat rocked lightly against the waves. It was morning and I had fallen asleep on the top deck. Sailor's worked hoisting the ship's flags. I had missed breakfast, so I would have to wait till lunch to eat. Suddenly, the captain walked out of the living quarters and stomped over.
