"Please tell me that you haven't changed yet." Is the first thing out of Bella's mouth when I opened the door.
"What's wrong with it?" I asked glancing down at my plain jeans and baggy T-shirt. Okay I can see why she said that, but I have not worn any form fitting clothes since Mark broke up with me.
"If you are planning to remain single then it's perfect!" Bella's sarcastic reply rang throughout my head.
Am I planning to stay single for the rest of my life? I have never thought of it like that before. Do I really want to spend life alone? Soon Bella would find someone and then I would be alone, without anyone beside me. Can I really live that way, not having someone to share life with?
"You are right, Bella. Why don't you raid my closet and find me something?" I replied, leading the way to my bedroom.
"You won't regret this." Bella said, rubbing her hands together with a mischievous grin plastered upon her face.
"Should I be afraid?"
"No, you will be stunning. Wait and see." she gushed walking into my closet. "Look at all these desirable dresses! Why do you dress like that when you have all this?"
"A breakup can do that to you."
"Forget that loser. You are beautiful, intelligent, and kindhearted. Any man would be lucky to have you. Whatever that jerk thought does not matter anymore. Let's have the time of our lives tonight." Bella stated as she struggled to get past the door frame, her arms loaded with clothes. All mostly black items with a few red ones thrown in.
"You will be cleaning this mess up." I teased taking a quick peek over at the pile sitting on top of my bed.
"I will come over later to help. Try this on and we will go from there." Bella ordered as she handed me a black dress that I do not remember buying.
Over an hour later we are ready to head out. After trying on so many dresses, we settled on the little black dress that I tried on first. I never wore this one before, it still had the price tags on it. It is a short number that goes mid-thigh with thin straps holding it into place on my shoulders. Silver glitter covered the dress giving it sparkles as it shined off the light in the room.
My long dark hair straightened down my back with deep red lipstick covering my lips. I never thought red was my color, however Bella worked her magic on me. I did not recognize the woman in the mirror staring back at me.
"Do you have your eye on anyone special?" Bella asked, giving me a knowing look.
"I do. I will only tell you on one condition. I want you to get Grayson to notice you."
"Why do you think I picked this dress out?" Bella replied pointing at her tight bright red strapless dress that brought out her bronzed skin tone and showed off her curves. Her recently cut hair framed her face perfectly. Her glasses captured the smoky eyes that she was going for, and her dangerously high heels doing wonders for her petite figure. Those death trap shoes made her about an inch shorter than me.
"I have a tiny, and I mean pint-size crush on Nate. Ever since Maddie's wedding he has been in my head a little too much." I confessed to my best friend. I might have lied about the tiny part; I have a major huge crush on that cowboy.
"I wouldn't say that." Bella chuckled, as we headed out to her jeep and drove us to the bar. The last time that I was in a bar was the night I regretted the most in my life. I made mistakes that night and I promised myself I would never put myself in that spot again. Yet here I am once again.
