chapter one

day one

so uh hi i guess.

i dont really know how to start this. this is my diary. im noah sterecra. im in my last year of high school at a co-ed private school in muskoka. ive been diagnosed with depression recently.

my psychologist said it would be a good idea to start a diary/journal where i record my thoughts and feelings and its really fucking pointless.

don't girls do this? girls with their prissy little crushes? i dont get the point, but we've already started so might as well just keep writing.

i have one more week of summer break before school starts for the year. am i glad to go back? no. its people like the ones at school that make me want to kill myself all the time.

my psychologist also says i should stop making jokes about killing myself around my younger siblings but it's built into my mindset now and i cant stop.

at school i have friends? im not fucking lonely.

i have this one good friend called cody. we've known each other since we were practically babies. you could say we're best friends. 

our mothers knew each other in high school, but recently his mother passed away a month and he's left with his burnt out alcoholic dad. sometimes they don't have running water or electricity. cody's a bit lost, if i say so myself. he hasnt been around recently, and because of my new diagnosis i couldn't be there for him either.

cody lives next door. his mom was his everything. she got into a car crash on the freeway when there was a drunk driver speeding. his window has been closed for a while now. i haven't seen or heard from him for a week. funny that. we used to hang out so much during summer break.

i usually love summer break, but this one has been shit. at the end of last term my girlfriend broke up with me because she's a lesbian. i wasted half of my break sitting around and feeling sorry for myself, and when i realized i should take control of my life again then my best friend's mother died. so yeah. 

i have other friends too.

courtney satella and duncan tarun are my friends from kindergarten. i met them when courtney sat down next to me during reading and fluently started reading a book about ice cream trucks. i met duncan because i stopped him from eating a crayon. he yelled, "i can do what i want!" and proceeded to eat the crayon. he threw up after.

they're dating now. courtney and duncan. they had some rough patches when gwen ingrid entered our lives though.

gwen is pretty. she's pretty in the way goths are pretty, girls with their sleepy eyes and eyeliner. i guess duncan liked that because during one of our friend geoff's parties they hooked up. to be fair, they were both drunk but courtney didn't take it lightly.

they're back together though, and gwen started dating a guy called trent. he's gay, but i cant prove it. 

actually, i think i can.

this model named justin moved into our town, and trent was drooling everywhere. he was head over heels. i havent seen gwen recently. maybe they broke up? but really, did any of us have a chance with justin?

bridgette and dj are the two people who i go to when i need to bake a cake. they're excellent. dj doesn't need a job, he has his life planned for him, and his own bakery with his mom. geoff and bridgette are huge on pda, they make you want a relationship of your own. 

then there's heather kasuga and alejandro burromuerto. alejandro is a charming guy that every girl has the hots for, but incredibly smart and manipulative. pair that with his girlfriend heather, the same manipulative bitch in a different soul, but she doesn't hide it as well.

heather's well known and mean, and she attracts so much attention, and she's calculated too. she used lindsay and beth for a long time to do her deeds.

lindsay is a girl with massive boobs and blonde hair. it's her whole personality. she's dumb. she's dating a jock named tyler who is always in the nurse's office every time i pass reception. he comes to school with an injury and has nosebleeds in class. 

beth is a girl with braces and acne. everyone compares themselves to her to make themselves feel prettier, but beth doesn't mind. she's almost as pure as dj, and she's best friends with lindsay. 

leshawna and harold are the most unusual couple in the school. leshawna, the beautiful girl with curves everyone knows and loves, she attracts attention in every room she walks into, and harold, the redhead who everyone tells to irish dance and give them a pot of gold, why wouldn't they be a strange match? they fit better than everyone else does though. 

i dont know how i became friends with izzy and eva and owen. owen's a foodie, he'll inhale your food if you dont barricade it. izzy goes from insane to formal every time something hits her head and eva has broken windows in class before.
