The sound of heavy rain could be heard. A small child peered into the small door crack trying to get a glimpse of the exchange between an unknown man and a woman.
"If I——will you keep your promise to keep——secret?"
"Of course, I will depart immediately."
The man handed over a large jangling bag to the woman who examined its contents immediately.
The child's eyes widened upon the realization of what was to come next.
"Don't go!" The young girl flung the door wide open and clung onto the departing woman.
"Lyla?"
"You brat! Return to your room immediately!"
"No! No! No! Please don't go, sister Hanya! You're all I have! What will I do by myself?"
The woman could say nothing as Lyla broke into tears. Smiling bitterly, she knelt down and hugged the young girl.
"My dear Lyla, don't cry. This is for your own good. We will see each other one day. Until then, farewell my child..."
Leaving behind a small trinket in Lyla's hand she departed once and for all.

It was early in the morning, the sun had just begun to rise. The birds were singing, the roosters crowing, the adults and children alike snoring. Still completely oblivious of her situation, the young girl remained snug as a bug in her bed as she continued to doze off peacefully.
I can hear the birds chirping outside. It must be early right now... I wonder what time it is. A small hand poked out from inside the blanket and patted the space beside her.
Was my bed always this wide? Her hand continued to search for the nonexistent phone only to be met by soft blankets. Huh?
Confused, the girl pulled down the covers and sat up. As her eyes adjusted to the dimly lit room, she once again took note of her surroundings.
It's the same room from my dream... That can't be right. She rubbed her eyes and turned her head left and right.
"Hmm..." Out of curiosity, the girl pinches her cheek and pulls.
Ow! Ow! Ow! Yep, this is real! With a pout she rubs her reddened cheek, and begins to retrace her memories.
After school ended, I was waiting for the bus. Then for an unknown reason, I blacked out. I don't remember what happened afterwards. Was I perhaps kidnapped?
With a grimace she turns towards all the expensive furniture and furnishings in the bedroom.
What kind of kidnapper gives such luxurious accommodations to a hostage? Also yesterday, that maid-looking lady acted not just friendly but familiar with me.
"Hmm..." She hummed more intensely as she tapped her chin. I was reading a crappy web novel and gave it a bad review, then the author messaged me, not once but twice. If I recall correctly, the idiot author's words were,
「If you're so smart then how about you rewrite it? If you manage to do better, I'll even grant you a wish, any wish.
Is that so? Everyone has a wish deep down inside. So have a change of heart! I insist!」
Right after I finished reading them, I blacked out. Then I awoke here... NO WAY! IT CAN'T BE, RIGHT?
Beginning to panic, the girl got out of bed, and began to search the drawers of the nightstand.
Come on! Come on! There should at least be a small one here! Unable to find it in the dresser, she got up and dusted the nightgown she had no memory of.
She turned around and began to inspect the room once more. As she set her eyes on the door the maid came from earlier, she walked up to it and frowned.
Are the doors bigger here or did I shrink somehow? She began to reach out for the doorknob before stopping herself. She shook her head. No, I don't know where this leads. I should come up with a plan before carelessly wandering around.
Out of the corner of her eye, she saw it. She couldn't notice it earlier from the bed since it was hidden away by the dresser. Whoever arranged it in such a way may have done so in order to prevent it from accidentally reflecting sunlight into the resting person's eyes when they would wake up.
Without wasting a second's thought, the girl ran to it and immediately came to a halt. Looking back at her were her big warm brown eyes wide in shock. A shorter and smaller build. Chubbier cheeks that still held baby fat. Warm brown eyes and full brown hair that went just past her shoulders.
"Why are my hunches always right!" She whined loudly. Oops! She instantly whipped her head towards the door. Conscious of being too loud and drawing attention to herself she instantly clamped her hands over her mouth. "Mmph!"
After a few moments of dead silence, she patted her chest and sighed in relief. She looked towards her reflection once more. Careful to not pinch too hard, she lightly pulled on her cheek again. It's not a dream! I've really been transmigrated!
"Ugh!" She groaned and face-palmed.
I'll come up with a plan later but right now- A spot of sunlight peeked through a crack between the curtains and fell on her face. Irritated, she pulled the curtains closer together and dove right back into bed. She fluffed the head pillow and pulled the blanket back up.
Comfortable once again her body relaxed into the mattress. I'm tired and there's no harm in getting more rest... And yet again, the little girl seamlessly fell into a deep sleep.

Meanwhile back in the modern world, inside a dark apartment room in an urban city an unknown figure sat at their desk. Their figure was faintly illuminated by the glow of their computer screen as they typed away, their fingers flying over the keyboard.
When they were satisfied with their work, they smirked and pressed enter. As whatever they typed up began to save, they drum their fingers on the desk and hum happily.
Still seated, they pivot their chair to face the vast view of the nightlife city through the open window.
All of a sudden they stand up and burst into maniacal laughter. After calming down they look down on the city with an egotistical expression. "Let the game of fate begin!"

Tuning back in with our main protagonist, out of nowhere, she let out a sneeze. With a sniffle, she subconsciously buried herself deeper under the bed sheets.
