-The compulsive repetition of an act, over and over, until the act is performed perfectly-
That's how Eve felt as of late. Surely the seven were great, but her life had completely changed after meeting them. And now she would have to move in with Pe...

The first time she had met Sally Jackson was at the woman's house, after the war against Gaia.
She couldn't help but notice how young and beautiful she was, to have a son as old as Percy. She would have thought she was his godly parent hadn't she known any better and the slight traces of age hadn't started to form on the beautiful face. The woman was visibly pregnant at the time, a girl, they said, Percy would become an older brother.
Sally looked at Percy the way Eve always imagined a mother would have looked at her children, pure love in her eyes, something she never experienced on her skin. Her mother was never... the best. She still remembered the overwhelming feelings when, who she recognized as mother only as a birthright, was close enough to her. That's why finding herself with Percy in front of the tower now was just... weird.
She had spent some time at the Jackson- Blowfis apartment as a kind concession from Sally, after she discovered her role in the saving of Percy and Annabeth from Tartarus. When Percy mentioned that she didn't have any place to go apart from Camp Halfblood, Sally invited her to stay for some days, so that she could thank her with a stock of her famous blue cookies. Eventually, in the few days she was supposed to stay, they grew so close that she ended up basically moving in.
After the newborn joined the family, the stress was almost unbearable for Sally, even thought she wouldn't admit it. Paul was doing his part as a father splendidly, so she couldn't complain about him, but there seemed to be an increasingly monster-attracting aura around Percy, so thick that Eve could see it behind the mist, not-so-well hidden, and it just seemed to grow with the protectiveness the both of them felt toward the young one. Eve would have never said it out loud, but the baby girl reminded her of Alex, the boy she grew accustomed to calling her brother, she would have lied by denying that she could have died for her: those chubby little cheeks, the intelligent and shiny eyes, and the funny noises she made when happy.
When Percy asked his mother if there was any living relative in New York, they could move in with, Eve almost felt overwhelmed by the sense of belonging: she had found a family. But then it hit her: why would Percy want to leave his mother, after disappearing for eight months? They were so close and seemingly happy. Was there something she hadn't noticed?
He was quick to explain himself: evidently Sally seemed hurt by his request; he didn't want to be a bother, and he recognized himself, and partially Eve, as a threat. He didn't want her to think they didn't feel welcome, but he didn't want to put them in direct danger either, so he wanted to leave but stick close by, to be able to visit them, and at the same time keep them safe.
After a couple days spent thinking and viewing each others' points of view, they came to the conclusion that it was actuable, even if Sally wasn't entirely happy. So when she gave them the infos, and the time to pack up came, there was nothing more to explain. It was probably for the best, that's what Eve knew he was thinking.
Sally and Paul had to legally adopt her to give a justification as to why she would have moved with Percy in the new place with his uncle, but they didn't really seem too upset about the idea of having her as a new permanent part of the family.
At their departure she thanked them for their welcome, and silently observed as Percy gently kissed his mother on her forehead, as his height easily allowed him to do. He soothingly whispered that it was for the best, and they would have been back before she could even notice their absence. 《You won't even miss us, mom. We will be right back》 With that and a couple more hugs, they left, to get to Percy's uncle. Little did they know what was going to happen.
