Y/N's pov
"About what you said last night... What do you mean?" The first thing I talked about with Cheng XiaYuan the moment I saw him in the morning. The night felt agonizingly long. I didn't sleep a wink last night overthinking about what he uttered to me before he left the room. "I'm just joking with you." Cheng XiaYuan says with a light smile but somehow his words didn't seem convincing at all, not even in the slightest. "I have somewhere to be, I made you food. You can eat it now if you want but if not you can store it and reheat it whenever you feel hungry. Bye." "Okay. Thank you." The faint sound of the door shutting close could be heard as Cheng XiaYuan exits.I sat there in silence for a while. The accusations of murder, the dream, the accident, Cheng XiaYuan... Everything was not making sense at all. There were holes in the plot that I can't recall no matter how much I tried. Perhaps I lost a big chunk of my memory. A big part of myself that I should remember but I don't. My eyebrows furrowed unconsciously and my facial expression morphed into a deep frown. Ever since that dream, I felt like something was missing and I couldn't grasp it. The feeling felt overwhelming.
I glanced at the food Cheng XiaYuan prepared on the table and got up to put it away as I was not really hungry. I felt rather thirsty so I opened the fridge to look for some water. A metallic odor hit my nose as soon as I opened the fridge. Confusion became plastered on my face. The heck? I shook off the weird feeling and continued to rummage the fridge in search of water. A squishy bag caught my attention when I unintentionally got in touch with it. I hesitantly pulled it out to be greeted by extreme shock. Dark red liquid. Stored in a bag right in the fridge emitting a strong metallic odor. What could it be? Blood. It was fucking blood.
The reality hit me like a brick. Cheng XiaYuan is also a vampire this whole time. "You might be surrounded by vampires more than you think" his words suddenly echoed in my head. So that's what he meant? Then what about him saying that I might be a vampire too? Was that supposed to be true too? But I was birthed by a human mother, I am human. I've lived as a human my whole life. It's impossible that I suddenly turn out to be a vampire. I quickly put back the bag of blood in the fridge and closed it back without any further inspection.
I bit my nails in anxiety and paced around the living room. What was I supposed to do? I was very unfortunate to encounter another vampire. I shudder imagining all the possible things he might do once he finds out I found out his real identity.
"Y/n..." Am I hearing things or did I just hear a voice call out to me? "Y/n.." my breath hitched. I'm probably hearing things due to my anxiety. Yes, it couldn't be possible. No one is in this mansion but me since Cheng XiaYuan left. Abnormally, although owning a big mansion, Cheng XiaYuan did not have one single maid, guard or employee. Probably because he's a vampire and he didn't want to expose himself. "Y/n...come to me............" My eyes darted to the stairs. The voice seems to be coming from upstairs. My feet stepped closer to the stairs before climbing the steps up one by one. "Yes... That's right, Y/n...." The unknown voice praised. I wanted to stop. I wanted to run back down but it felt like my body had a mind of its own. I had been hypnotized by the voice to follow its command.
My body stood still in front of a big wooden door. "Step inside....." My hand already reached the door handle and before I could register I had already made my way into the room. The room had been a library filled with thousands of books. Most of them were looking very ancient, like a few hundred years old. Despite being scared, my eyes wandered the library in pure curiosity. "Turn left.." the voice called out to me as my body obeyed its every command.
I was brought to a long hallway in the very left side of the library. The hallway gave me an eerie feeling and the hair on my neck immediately stood up from the fright. "Come closer........" The voice whispered from the end of the hallway. No. Please no. I don't want to go. But my body unwillingly was already walking step by step into the eerie hallway. "Closer..." The voice became clearer and cleared as I started clenching my fist being extremely terrified. "Closer...." One book lies with a strange glow at the end of the hallway. The voice seemed to be emitting from the book. "Yes my child... Open the book....." As soon as the book was flipped open, a bright light absorbed me again.
Author's pov
The sound of the ticking clock was the only thing that could be heard in the silent library. And in the very far left space of the library lies a girl. A girl laying very still and lifeless as if her soul had just been sucked out of her, with an opened page of a book beside her body...The page read
"One's destiny could never be changed."
